About the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fully qualified Finance Manager to join a rapidly growing financial services business as it enters its next stage of development. The business has experienced significant growth over the last few years, with turnover increasing substantially and ambitious plans in place to continue expanding over the coming years. This is a newly created position reporting directly to the Finance Director, with responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day transactional finance function and managing a small team. It's a role that offers plenty of scope to make an impact. Rather than simply inheriting established processes, you'll have the opportunity to improve controls, introduce efficiencies and help shape the finance function as the business grows. The Role You'll take ownership of a broad range of financial responsibilities, combining strong technical accounting with commercial exposure and team leadership. Key areas will include:

  • Taking ownership of the month-end process, management accounts and financial reporting
  • Working closely with the Finance Director to deliver accurate and timely financial information
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning
  • Managing, mentoring and developing a team of two Accounts Assistants
  • Supporting the preparation of statutory accounts and coordinating external audit activity
  • Ensuring strong financial controls, processes and governance are maintained
  • Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and introduce greater efficiency
  • Supporting finance systems and wider business improvement projects
  • Reviewing and improving payroll and HR processes, including supporting the introduction of new systems
  • Working closely with department heads to improve processes and financial performance
  • Providing commercial insight and acting as a key finance partner to the wider business About You We're looking for a fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant who is comfortable operating in a hands-on environment. You'll ideally have experience across:
  • Month-end and management reporting
  • Statutory accounts and audit
  • UK GAAP and statutory reporting
  • Budgeting, forecasting and cash flow
  • Financial controls and process improvement
  • Managing or developing a small finance team You could come from either practice or industry, although experience within a fast-paced, growing SME environment would be particularly relevant. You'll need to be someone who is happy to get involved, take ownership and make decisions rather than waiting for things to be handed to you.
