Salary: £30,255

Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week (including weekends and bank holidays)

• Assessment Day: Thursday 1st October
• Successful candidates may be invited to a second-stage face-to-face interview
• Initial 9 weeks of training will be based in Birmingham
• Enjoy at least one day off every weekend

The Role

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day running of a busy convenience store. This is an excellent opportunity for a retail professional who enjoys leading teams, delivering great customer service and driving operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Store Operations

• Support the daily management of the store
• Oversee stock replenishment, deliveries and stock rotation
• Manage tills and cash handling procedures
• Ensure high standards of merchandising, cleanliness and product availability
• Assist with store opening and closing duties
• Maintain compliance with health, safety and food safety regulations
• Monitor waste, stock loss and inventory control

Team Leadership

• Lead, motivate and develop store colleagues
• Support recruitment, training and onboarding activities
• Create staff rotas and ensure appropriate store coverage
• Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching
• Manage employee relations matters fairly and professionally

Customer Service

• Deliver an excellent customer experience
• Resolve customer queries and complaints effectively
• Build positive relationships with customers and the local community
• Promote customer loyalty and repeat business

Commercial Performance

• Support the achievement of sales and profitability targets
• Monitor key performance indicators, including availability, waste and shrinkage
• Help control store costs and maximise efficiency
• Produce accurate reports when required

About You

• Previous retail supervisory or management experience is desirable
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Organised with excellent problem-solving abilities
• Able to thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment
• Customer-focused with a hands-on approach
• Flexible to work varying shifts, weekends and bank holidays
