About The Role The Data Scientist role with NHS is a pivotal position aimed at supporting strategic healthcare planning through advanced data analytics and modelling. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing sophisticated workforce demand and supply models that influence long-term healthcare workforce planning. This contract position offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile projects that leverage data science techniques to improve healthcare service delivery. The role requires a proactive individual capable of translating complex datasets into actionable insights, collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and delivering impactful visualizations and reports to stakeholders at various levels. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Data Scientist working within complex, data-driven environments. Strong technical skills in Python are essential, particularly in building, maintaining, and enhancing analytical or simulation models. Experience with system dynamics modelling, simulation engines, or forecasting methodologies is highly desirable. Knowledge of NHS-specific data, including activity, demand, referral, population health, or workforce data, will be advantageous. The candidate should possess robust SQL skills for extracting, manipulating, and analyzing large datasets. Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Excel, and R is also required to support analysis and reporting activities. A relevant degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred. Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance workforce planning models that support long-term healthcare workforce forecasting and demand planning.
• Analyse complex datasets to understand workforce inflows, outflows, activity trends, and service demand across NHS settings.
• Apply system dynamics and simulation modelling techniques to improve existing models and develop new forecasting capabilities.
• Translate research evidence, operational data, and stakeholder requirements into robust analytical models and actionable insights.
• Collaborate with workforce planning and analytical teams to deliver modelling projects within challenging timescales.
• Produce visualizations, reports, and dashboards that communicate modelling outputs to a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
