Overview Dot Collective is hiring a Senior Data Analyst on a fully remote basis, open to candidates anywhere in the UK. There is an ad hoc travel requirement to London for client-facing work. The salary is £70,000 - £85,000. This role exists because Dot Collective's data analysis team has solid general capacity and needs someone who can own the data modelling specialism - dimensional models, data vaults, E-R work, and the design decisions around lakes, warehouses, and marts. Day-to-day, you will sit at the intersection of client relationship and technical delivery: gathering requirements, shaping data architecture, and translating complex analysis for both clients and internal engineering teams. The person who thrives here combines genuine hands-on depth in data modelling with the credibility and communication skills to bring resistant stakeholders along. This is not a back-room technical role - it carries real commercial weight. Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the bridge between clients and the internal team, managing stakeholder relationships and translating requirements in both directions
  • Gather use cases and functional and non-functional requirements, and turn them into clear user stories
  • Own data modelling work: E-R models, dimensional models, data vaults, and the design of data lakes, warehouses, and marts
  • Lead data profiling, mapping, cleansing, transformation, aggregation, and quality assurance
  • Perform data exploration across formats including .csv, .json, and .XML
  • Explain analysis and architectural decisions to data engineers, architects, and testers
  • Run UAT and create mock and testing data
  • Apply knowledge of OLAP and OLTP, ETL processes, and API design to delivery
  • Work across cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and tools including Databricks, Snowflake, and Informatica
  • Use Python and Pandas, SQL, Oracle, and T-SQL for data query and analysis
  • Produce reporting and visualisation using BI tools such as Qlik, Quicksight, Power BI, or Tableau Requirements Must-haves
  • Significant hands-on experience in data modelling, including dimensional models, data vaults, and E-R models
  • Proven ability to manage and influence senior or resistant stakeholders, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience gathering requirements and writing user stories in a client-facing delivery context
  • Practical knowledge of data profiling, mapping, cleansing, transformation, aggregation, and quality processes
  • Competence across data query languages: SQL, Oracle, and T-SQL
  • Experience working with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Familiarity with ETL concepts and tools (Snowflake, Informatica)
  • Experience with Databricks
  • Ability to work with Python and Pandas
  • Understanding of OLAP vs OLTP, data lakes, data warehouses, and data marts Nice-to-haves
  • Experience with API design
  • Hands-on use of BI tools such as Qlik, Quicksight, Power BI, or Tableau
  • Exposure to multiple cloud platforms rather than a single one
  • Experience in a consultancy or client-facing professional services environment What Success Looks Like
  • Twelve months in, the client relationship is in a stronger position than when you joined - satisfaction is high and trust is earned
  • You have improved the client's ways of working in measurable, visible ways, not just delivered against a brief
  • Your credibility with resistant stakeholders has shifted their position on key decisions, rather than worked around them
  • Your work has opened up new revenue opportunities within the account, expanding what Dot Collective's data practice can offer that client
  • The data engineering and architecture team regard you as a genuine peer, not just a requirements gatherer Team and Culture
  • You are joining an established data analysis team that has general capacity - your specialism in data modelling is the addition, not a replacement
  • The team operates in a delivery environment where technical depth and client relationship skills are both valued, and the expectation is that you bring both
  • The wider practice has a commercial mindset: strong delivery is the foundation, but the goal is to grow accounts and open doors, not just fulfil contracts
  • The head of practice is involved in hiring, which reflects how seriously this role is taken at a senior level Challenges
  • The client-side stakeholders you will work with include people who are reluctant to change - your job is to bring them along without losing the relationship, which requires patience and credibility in equal measure
  • Your modelling expertise is not just a technical asset, it is the thing that earns you the right to influence - you will need to demonstrate depth quickly to establish that credibility
  • The role is fully remote, so when you do travel to London for client work, you need to show up well and make those interactions count
  • The commercial stakes are real: a strong hire expands the account, and a weak one doesn't just underdeliver, they leave opportunity on the table Practicals
  • Role type: Permanent, full-time
  • Location: Fully remote, UK-based. Ad hoc travel to London for client-facing work
  • Company: Dot Collective
  • Salary: £70,000 - £85,000
  • Interview process: Three stages, all virtual - a tech test, a one-hour technical interview, and a 45-minute conversation with the head of practice. Target start date is mid-August 2026 Ideal Candidate Profile You have serious hands-on experience in data modelling and you know it well enough to make architectural recommendations and defend them in a room. But the technical depth is only half of it. You are comfortable with clients who push back, who are set in their ways, or who do not yet see why change is in their interest - and you know how to move them without losing their trust. You are used to working across the full delivery cycle, from requirements gathering through to UAT, and you can communicate clearly with engineers, architects, and senior client stakeholders in the same day. You are drawn to roles where your work has a commercial dimension, where doing the job well does not just mean delivering on time but means opening up what is possible for the team around you. If you want a role where the ceiling is set by your own credibility and ambition, this is it.
