Capital Works Manager

The Marx Memorial Library & Workers' School is embarking on the first phase of a long-term masterplan to transform access to its nationally significant collections and historic site. Opening Doors: Transforming Access to Radical Heritage at the Marx Memorial Library & Workers' School will improve physical, intellectual and perceptual access through:

• the creation of a new visitor welcome and exhibition space;
• improvements to accessibility throughout the building;
• improved collections storage and access;
• a new website and digital resources;
• refreshed interpretation and visitor facilities;
• new opportunities for community participation and learning. The project is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund alongside individual supporters and organisational fundraising. The Capital Works Manager will lead the coordination and day-to-day management of the project through its delivery phase to reopening in May 2028. Acting as the Library's client representative, they will work closely with the Director, professional team, contractors, consultants, project partners and Trustees to ensure successful delivery of the capital works. The postholder will maintain oversight of programme, risk, budget and reporting requirements and ensure effective communication between all parties involved in the project.
