Senior Software Engineer

Insight Global are seeking a Senior Software Developer for a leading global financial services organisation. This position requires 5 days onsite per week in London, England for an Inside IR35 contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining Java-based backend applications across the full software development lifecycle. This role offers the opportunity to work on a range of initiatives including legacy platform migrations, greenfield development, platform upgrades and optimisation of data strategies. The position is highly hands-on, requiring daily coding and close involvement in software design, architecture and problem solving. Must-Have Requirements Include:

• Strong enterprise-level backend software engineering experience
• Demonstrable Core Java development experience (JDK 8+)
• Strong understanding of Core Java concepts and design patterns
• Experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to support software development
• Strong understanding of software design concepts and data structures
• Advanced debugging and troubleshooting capabilities
• Proficiency in Object-Oriented Design and Development
• Strong experience building and consuming RESTful web services
• Experience working within Microservices architectures
• Strong understanding of database technologies
• Experience with relational databases, ideally DB2
• Ability to write and analyse complex SQL queries involving multi-table joins and aggregate functions
• Experience taking ownership of technical delivery and solution design Plusses Include:
• Experience with cloud technologies
• Kubernetes deployment experience
• Experience supporting legacy-to-greenfield code migrations
• Basic shell scripting knowledge
• Previous experience within financial services or capital markets environments Key Responsibilities:

• Able to work independently on complex projects without relying on highly prescriptive task lists
• Experienced in building new solutions, not solely enhancing or supporting existing platforms
