Senior Software Engineer

Back End Engineer, Connected Sports Tech Location: Remote / hybrid, 1 day a week in Reading The opportunity Our client is a century-old global sports brand, recently backed by a leading private equity firm and moving into a digital era. They're building a camera-based auto-scoring product that tracks play in real time and connects to an app for online games, stats and training. You'll build the Golang services and databases behind it, working in a small cross-functional team alongside the hardware engineers. What you'll be doing

• Build and maintain back end REST services in Golang
• Design and evolve the SQL data model behind those services
• Refine user stories with product and integrate APIs with front end developers
• Write automated tests, then build and deploy to production
• Monitor performance and quality in production with the ops team
• Share knowledge through code reviews and pair programming What we're looking for
• 4+ years of commercial experience in Go, or a similar language such as Kotlin or Rust
• Back end experience on a high-volume consumer product
• Hands-on experience building REST APIs
• Strong SQL and familiarity with PostgreSQL
• Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
• Comfort working at a higher level to help shape back end architecture
• A figure-it-out attitude and comfort with shifting priorities in a startup-style team Bonus points if you have
• Kubernetes and containerised deployments
• Grafana/Loki monitoring and observability
• Modern front end, or Swift/Kotlin for mobile
• A background in sports or gaming What's on offer
