Assistant Accountant

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail and a strong background in finance and account management. The successful candidate will assist in various accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance across financial operations. This is a 4 week rolling assignment.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Assist accounts assistant with their development and compliance.
• Post and allocate customer deposits and debtor payments from the bank.
• Ensure accuracy and security of cash banking.
• Complete and maintain reconciliation accounts for cash, card, and bank receipts.
• Maintain petty cash float, tracking expenditure and ensuring VAT compliance.
• Support departments with monthly direct debit collections.
• Review and input statistical data that matches revenues received and check income for accuracy.
• Assist in chasing outstanding debts with the support of sales and reservations teams.
• Check supplier invoices for accuracy, processing eligible invoices in a timely manner in line with payment cut-off dates.
• Support the production of payroll reports for internal reviews.
• Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly tasks are completed in preparation for month-end accounts.
• Assist in preparing general and accrual journals for submission and posting, and produce reports on elements of the balance sheet.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Excellent written and spoken communication skills along with strong interpersonal abilities.
• Impeccable attention to detail.
• Ability to pinpoint errors and contribute towards their correction.
• Computer literacy, with good to excellent understanding of Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with the following software/services is ideal but not essential:
• Oracle Opera (Revenue & Payments)
• Oracle Simphony
• Fourth Workforce Management (HR & Payroll)
• NAV / Navision (General Accounts & Accounts Payable)
