About the job

About Zymix Zymix is the definitive lifestyle ecosystem for the digital generation-bridging the gap between social connection and real-world experience. Transcending the "Super App" model, Zymix fuses hyper-social interaction with a seamless service layer, empowering global youth to integrate a wide range of services beyond social networking, discover Al-curated experiences, and unlock essential services in one fluid motion. We are redefining the platform economy by prioritising authenticity, community, and friction-free living. About the role The App Accountant owns the accounting for everything that happens inside the ZYMIX app: in-app purchases, wallet activity, ticketing and events, rewards points, and payouts to creators, merchants and partners. You will turn platform and payment-provider data into accurate, reconciled books every month. This is a hands-on role in a small finance team. It suits someone who likes tracing a number from the transaction log to the ledger and fixing the process when the two disagree. Key responsibilities… App revenue and platform reconciliation

  • Record and reconcile in-app purchase revenue from Apple App Store and Google Play, including platform commission, refunds, chargebacks and foreign-exchange differences.
  • Reconcile app back-end transaction data to store payout reports, payment-provider statements and bank receipts, and clear breaks promptly.
  • Apply revenue recognition correctly to virtual items, coins, gifts, subscriptions, ticket sales and mini-app income, including principal versus agent assessments.
  • Maintain deferred revenue and liability balances for unspent virtual currency, rewards points and unredeemed tickets. Wallet and user funds
  • Reconcile wallet balances daily against the payment provider and safeguarded accounts, keeping user funds clearly separate from company funds.
  • Account for top-ups, transfers, withdrawals, fees and failed or reversed transactions.
  • Support the compliance team with financial data for e-money regulatory reporting in the UK and Gibraltar. Creator, merchant and partner payouts
  • Calculate, check and process payouts to creators, event organisers, merchants and mini-app partners in line with contract terms.
  • Account for prize money, talent rewards and campaign incentives, including ZYMIX Spotlight, with the right tax treatment and supporting records.
  • Maintain accruals for amounts earned but not yet paid. Month-end and reporting
  • Prepare app-related journals, balance sheet reconciliations and accruals to the month-end timetable.
  • Produce monthly reporting on app revenue, take rate, payout costs and unit economics by feature and market.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting with transaction-level analysis.
  • Prepare schedules and evidence for the statutory audit and group consolidation. Tax and compliance
  • Prepare VAT workings for digital services, ticketing and marketplace supplies, including the store-as-agent and cross-border rules.
  • Assist with UK VAT returns and with queries from tax advisers and HMRC.
  • Keep records that meet UK GAAP or IFRS, Companies Act and regulatory requirements. Controls and systems
  • Design and document controls over in-app pricing changes, refunds, manual wallet adjustments and payout approvals.
  • Work with engineering to specify the finance data and reports the app must produce, and test them before new features launch.
  • Automate reconciliations and reduce manual spreadsheets where possible.
  • Flag unusual transaction patterns to compliance for fraud and anti-money-laundering review. About you
  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years in accounting, with experience in a mobile app, gaming, marketplace, fintech or e-commerce business.
  • Hands-on experience reconciling high-volume transaction data across app stores, payment providers and bank accounts.
  • Sound working knowledge of revenue recognition under IFRS 15 or FRS 102, especially virtual goods, deferred revenue and principal versus agent.
  • Good understanding of UK VAT on digital services.
  • Advanced Excel, and comfort working with large data exports. SQL is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with a cloud accounting system such as Xero, NetSuite or similar.
  • Clear written and spoken English, and the confidence to explain finance requirements to product and engineering colleagues.
  • Accurate, organised and able to work to month-end deadlines with little supervision. Nice to have
  • Experience in an e-money, payments or other regulated financial services environment, including safeguarding reconciliations.
  • Fluency in Mandarin is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to multi-entity or multi-currency group reporting.
  • Experience with creator or influencer payouts, prize competitions or live-streaming gift economies.
  • Experience automating finance processes with Power Query, Python or a BI tool. Why Zymix
  • Build a category-defining product for UK and European Gen-Z from day one.
  • Small senior team, direct access to leadership, fast decision-making.
  • Private healthcare through AXA from day 1. Including group income protection and group life cover.
  • Vibrant Soho office with free breakfast and afternoon snacks, weekly happy hour & more.
  • Competitive salary (DOE) + benefits package.
