Product Manager
Second TalentAbout the Company Our client is building an AI-powered intelligence layer for construction workflows, helping construction professionals reduce the time spent interpreting drawings, specifications, requirements, and domain knowledge. The platform uses modern AI to transform how teams check, extract, compare, and produce information across complex, document-heavy construction workflows. The Role We're looking for a high-agency Product Manager to own products from discovery through customer value. You'll identify important customer problems, develop and validate product theses, work closely with Engineering to build solutions, put products in customers' hands, measure whether they create value, and iterate until customers adopt and pay for them. Your immediate focus will be the company's Design Compliance & Studio product area. This is a hands-on ownership role. You won't simply gather requirements, write specifications, or hand work to Engineering. You'll remain accountable for the quality of the product thinking, pace of execution, and customer outcome. What You'll Do
- Discover Valuable Problems
- Lead customer interviews, workflow observations, and market research.
- Understand how customers work today, where time and money are lost, and why problems matter.
- Look beyond customer requests to identify the underlying needs.
- Prioritize opportunities based on customer value, strategic fit, and commercial potential.
- Form & Validate Product Theses
- Turn incomplete and sometimes conflicting information into clear product hypotheses.
- Define the target user, current workflow, desired outcome, and how the product can solve the problem better.
- Identify the riskiest assumptions and design fast, efficient ways to validate them.
- Use prototypes, AI-generated interfaces, demos, and lightweight proofs of concept before committing to full development.
- Drive the Smallest Valuable Release
- Translate product theses into clear outcomes, scope, and success criteria.
- Work closely with Engineering and domain experts to ensure the team understands both the customer context and the reasoning behind product decisions.
- Make clear scope trade-offs, remove blockers, and keep teams focused on the smallest release capable of creating or validating customer value.
- Get working software into customers' hands early rather than waiting for a perfect launch.
- Own Outcomes After Launch
- Monitor real-world usage and gather structured customer feedback.
- Measure whether products solve the intended problem, drive repeat usage, and create willingness to pay.
- Turn customer and product evidence into clear decisions: iterate, expand, reposition, or stop.
- Build repeatable products rather than a collection of one-off customer solutions. How Success Is Measured The primary metric is Time to Customer Value — how quickly the team moves from identifying a valuable customer problem to delivering something that creates measurable value. Depending on the product stage, success may include:
- Time to first usable prototype
- Time to first customer use
- Adoption and repeat usage
- Trial-to-paid conversion
- Number of paid customers
- Revenue generated What We're Looking For
- Strong product judgment and the ability to form a clear point of view with incomplete information.
- Strong customer discovery skills and genuine interest in understanding how users work.
- Ability to turn complex customer and market information into a clear product thesis.
- Commercial mindset with a strong focus on customer value and willingness to pay.
- Ability to communicate customer context clearly so Engineering teams understand why they are building something.
- Strong prioritization skills and willingness to make aggressive scope trade-offs.
- Preference for rapid prototyping and experimentation over lengthy requirements documentation.
- Comfortable working with short iteration cycles and moving quickly from idea to validation.
- Strong ownership beyond launch, with a focus on adoption and measurable customer outcomes.
- Comfortable challenging founders, customers, and Engineering teams when necessary.
- Strong understanding of modern AI capabilities and how they are changing what is possible in product development.
- Conversant with LLMs, AI agents, RAG, multimodal models, evaluations, and emerging AI product patterns.
- Able to work effectively with technical teams without necessarily building the underlying AI models yourself. Bonus Points
- Experience shipping AI-powered products.
- Comfortable using AI coding tools or a CLI to prototype ideas.
- Ability to turn an idea into a rough working demo without waiting for Engineering.
- Experience building complex B2B or enterprise products.
- Experience with document-heavy professional workflows.
- Background in construction, architecture, engineering, or related industries. This Role May Not Be for You If
- You view Product Management primarily as gathering requirements and translating them into tickets.
- You measure progress mainly through backlog completion or feature volume.
- You need everything fully defined before starting.
- You default to building whatever customers request without challenging the underlying problem.
- You hand requirements to Engineering and move on to the next task.
- You consider the job finished once the product launches.
