Actus Search

Client: Quantitative Investment Manager Job title: Python Reliability Engineer – Risk Technology Location: London - 4 days per week in office. The opportunity Actus Search is working with a leading global quantitative investment manager to hire a Reliability Software Engineer into its Risk Technology team in London. The team owns the systems at the centre of the firm's trading: position management, real-time P&L, inventory and locate management, and internal order routing. They have to be fast and resilient, and they process very large volumes of trading data in real time. This is an engineering role, not a pure support role. You'll build firm-wide platforms that make these systems easier to observe, safer to change and quicker to run, so the team spends less time on manual work. Your impact

  • Observability: building a health-check framework that teams can extend through configuration or custom code.
  • Regression prevention: building automated performance benchmarking into the CI/CD pipeline, so performance and functional regressions are caught before they reach production.
  • Automation: delivering a self-serve platform for configuration changes, with built-in approvals and scheduled execution.
  • Production ownership: providing L2 support on a shared rota (about one day a week), leading root-cause analysis on incidents, and handling configuration changes and data corrections until they are automated. What you'll bring
  • A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • 4+ years in software engineering or reliability engineering, including hands-on L2 production support
  • Strong Python and Git
  • Solid Linux experience
  • Experience building automation tooling and working with configuration management
  • Strong analytical skills, close attention to detail and clear communication
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment Bonus points for
  • Messaging middleware such as Kafka or AMPS
  • Kubernetes or Slurm
  • PostgreSQL, ClickHouse or KDB/q What's on offer
  • Join a highly technical, engineering-led firm where reliability is treated as a core engineering discipline
  • Work on platforms used across the firm, with direct impact on trading
  • Highly competitive base salary and bonus
