About the job

Web & Graphics Designer Intern (Unpaid) Fully Remote | 6 months | ~20 hrs/week | Start ASAP | Compulsory, credit-bearing UK placement | Deadline: 09/10/2026 | Unpaid work-experience placement (a required part of your course) About Sodium Learn Sodium Learn is an enterprise EdTech startup based in the UK. We are building an intelligent learning and workforce capability platform for regulated SMEs and scaling startups: businesses that need to develop their people, stay compliant & perform, but do not have internal resources or time to handle the manual admin. The role You will collaborate closely with the Co-Founders in the Marketing & GTM team, who set the direction for our product and brand, and learn from them along the way. Your role is to make everything customers see outside the product feel like one company: our website, our brand identity and our marketing materials. The website runs on a no-code platform, and we will stay on it unless we outgrow it, so you will design and update pages directly there. What you will contribute towards

  • Website: review our site for inconsistencies in layout, spacing, typography, colour and components, then fix them. Design new pages and sections in our no-code builder, and propose new ones (for example case studies, resources and pricing) with a clear case for why
  • Brand identity: help build out our brand identity (logo usage, colour, typography, iconography, imagery and illustration style) and document it in simple brand guidelines and a lightweight design system that the team can follow
  • Marketing templates: create reusable, editable templates for social posts, banners, presentation slides, one-pagers and email headers, so the wider team can publish on-brand without a designer
  • SEO basics: apply on-page SEO to the pages you build (metadata, headings, image alt text, page structure) and keep pages fast by optimising images and assets
  • Collaborate: partner with the co-founder, product, engineering and marketing teams, share work in progress often, communicate clearly in writing and explain your decisions Who we are looking for
  • Students enrolled on a higher education / university course, where this placement is a compulsory requirement of that course (placement of no more than one year)
  • Studying Graphic Design, Web Design, Digital Media, Visual Communication, UX or UI Design or a related subject
  • Strong Figma, Canva skills, good visual judgement and a feel for typography, colour and layout. Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop is useful.
  • Detail-oriented, self-directed, open to feedback and comfortable proposing and defending ideas
  • A plus: experience with a no-code website builder (Webflow, Framer, WordPress or Wix), brand or visual identity work, B2B or SaaS branding, basic SEO, or basic HTML/CSS (not required) Internship details
  • 6 months, ~20 hours per week (flexible around studies), fully remote
  • Unpaid and credit-bearing. This is a work-experience placement that forms a required part of your course, which is why it is unpaid. It includes mentorship, certification and a professional reference. Reasonable expenses reimbursed
  • Must be a compulsory placement on a recognised UK university course, lasting no more than one year
  • This placement does not carry any promise or expectation of paid work or future employment How to apply Email hiring@sodiumlearn.com with: Your CV and cover letter A portfolio link with two examples (one showing brand or visual identity work, one showing a website or marketing materials) Written university confirmation that the placement is compulsory, with course name, module and dates A short paragraph (max 150 words): "Pick a company website or brand you admire. What is one thing you would change to make it more consistent, and how would you check that the change works?" What we offer This is a fully remote placement with flexible hours of about 20 a week that fit around your studies. You'll join an agile, high-impact team and work directly with our CMO & CEO . You'll own the visual side of our website, brand and marketing templates, and you'll get regular mentorship and feedback. You'll build a portfolio of live work, and when you complete the placement you'll receive certification and a professional reference. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a short design task.
