Data Engineering Manager

Data Engineering Manager West London | Hybrid, 3 days per week onsite Up to £90,000 + up to 40% bonus We're working with a large, established organisation that is investing heavily in the modernisation of its data platform and is looking for a Data Engineering Manager to help lead the next stage of that journey. This is a hands-on management role where you'll take responsibility for the delivery and development of the data engineering function, including the management of a small offshore engineering team. You'll provide technical direction, ensure projects are delivered effectively and work closely with stakeholders across Data, Analytics and the wider business. While there is a strong people and delivery management element to the position, you'll still need to be technically credible and comfortable getting hands-on when required. What you'll be doing

• Managing and developing a small offshore team of Data Engineers
• Taking ownership of engineering delivery across a range of data initiatives
• Providing technical guidance, reviewing designs and supporting engineers with more complex challenges
• Remaining hands-on with data engineering where needed
• Helping drive the move from legacy, on-premise infrastructure towards a modern cloud-based data environment
• Working closely with Data Architects, Analytics teams and senior business stakeholders
• Improving engineering standards across CI/CD, testing, coding standards, documentation and version control
• Ensuring data pipelines and platforms are reliable, scalable and well maintained
• Helping prioritise workloads, manage delivery timelines and coordinate engineering resources What we're looking for You'll be an experienced Data Engineering Manager, Lead Data Engineer or Technical Lead with previous experience managing engineers while remaining close to the technology. Ideally, you'll bring experience across:
• Managing and developing Data Engineering teams, ideally including remote or offshore engineers
• AWS, including services such as S3, Lambda and Glue
• Snowflake
• Python and SQL
• Airflow or similar orchestration tooling
• Building and maintaining complex data pipelines
• Data warehousing and data modelling
• CI/CD and modern software engineering practices
• Working within cloud migration or data modernisation programmes
• Managing technical delivery and communicating with senior stakeholders Package 💰 Up to £90,000 base salary 🎯 Up to 40% bonus 📍 West London 🏢 Hybrid, 3 days per week onsite
