Senior Java Engineer - Front Office Trading Systems

A leading global financial institution seeks a Senior Java Engineer in Hong Kong to enhance front office trading systems, optimising performance and delivering robust solutions for traders and external clients.

Key responsibilities: As a Senior Java Engineer, you will enhance critical front office trading systems, delivering reliable, high-performance solutions that support traders and external clients.

• Collaborate with regional and global teams to deliver critical projects aligned with business objectives, managing timelines, quality, and stakeholder communication
• Lead technical design and manage the full software development lifecycle, from initial design to production deployment, ensuring scalable and maintainable solutions
• Develop and enhance trading system components using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Angular, and relational databases to improve performance and functionality
• Champion test-driven development (TDD) and delivery automation, leveraging tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, Artifactory, and Jenkins to improve software reliability and efficiency
• Support production deployment through first-line team training and ongoing third-level support, proactively escalating issues and maintaining transparent communication with stakeholders
• Participate in global knowledge-sharing initiatives, adapt to evolving requirements, and deliver client-focused solutions that meet technical standards and business needs

Candidate profile:

• 6+ years' experience in server-side Java development, concurrent programming, Java 11+, and real-time three-tier architecture
• Proficiency in Apache Kafka; experience with Spring Boot, Angular, and relational technologies is an advantage
• Experience with SDLC tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, Artifactory, and Jenkins; strong commitment to test-driven development (TDD) and delivery automation
• Experience working in globally distributed teams, collaborating across business operations, infrastructure, and development
• Adaptability to evolving client requirements; front-office trading systems or equity-domain experience is a strong advantage
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; familiarity with AI/LLM tools for software development is beneficial
