Insurance Apprenticeship Programme

Our Commercial & Schemes division helps businesses protect themselves through insurance. As an apprentice, you'll support clients with their policies, answer questions, update records and help keep things running smoothly. You'll build valuable business, customer service and communication skills along the way.

What you'll do

• Learn the foundations of commercial insurance and how an Account Handler supports clients. 
• Draft clear and professional email correspondence for clients and insurers. 
• Build confidence speaking with clients and insurers, helping to answer queries and gather information, both via email and during phone calls.   
• Help gather and share the information needed to manage policies and support client requests. 
• Support with maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records.  
• Build long-term relationships and provide excellent customer service.   
• Learn how amendments to insurance policies are managed as well as the policy renewals process.  

After the apprenticeship

Our apprentices join Howden on permanent contracts from day one. After successfully completing the 18-month programme, you'll transition out of the apprenticeship and continue developing your skills, expertise and career within your chosen area of the business.

Apprenticeship details

• Course: Insurance practitioner (level 3), Legal, finance and accounting
• Apprenticeship level: Advanced (level 3)
• Training provider: WISER ACADEMY LIMITED
• Expected duration: 1 Year 6 Months
• Hours: 37.5 hours a week. Working week: Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5:30pm.
• Start date: 13 September 2027
• Positions available: 1
• Wage: £23,000 a year
