Trainee Technician

Job Title Trainee Technician DEPARTMENT: Production SUPERVISOR: Cell Leader DIRECT REPORAATS: N/A Position Summary We are seeking an eager, enthusiastic person with the desire to learn and develop their skills within our workshop. This is a generic job description encompassing the duties of technicians in several departments, working to strict ISO9001 procedures and processes. Qualifications Education:

• National 5 in Mathematics or equivalent. Experience:
• Two years of experience in a workshop environment.
• Soldering involvement is preferred but not essential.
• Experience working with fibre optics. Knowledge:
• Understanding of technical drawings/ wiring schematics. Skills Base
• Good communication skills and effective team player.
• Soldering & wiring of connectors and assemblies preferred.
• Computer literate.
• Good organization skills with an ability to develop creative solutions to problems.
• Ability to work on own initiative Job Responsibilities
• Assemble parts supplied in kit form as per engineering drawings.
• Prepare supplied parts for termination and encapsulation.
• Carry out electrical terminations and splices through soldering and mechanical processes.
• Carry out Fibre Optic terminations in line with the defined processes.
• Mixing and casting of a variety of Polyurethane, Polyethylene, and epoxy resins.
• Interpret technical engineering drawings to manufacture in line with process specifications.
• Manufacture of connectors and connector inserts from raw components.
• Handle and store chemicals for cleaning, priming, and moulding strictly adhering to health and safety procedures.
• Attend on-site, both UK and abroad, to assist customers with installation, testing and monitoring of applications.
• Test products and accurately record and document results.
• Maintain all machinery and equipment to proper standards on a regular basis.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices to ensure the working environment is always customer friendly.
• Assist with training and job or product awareness for other staff within the Group.
