Senior Software Engineer / Developer (Python Data) London / WFH to £140k Are you a Senior Software Engineer with strong Python coding skills who enjoys building robust, high performance systems from complex quantitative research? With ambitious plans to expand into hydrogen storage and establish an in-house energy trading desk, it's at the forefront of energy innovation. As a Senior Software Engineer you will collaborate closely with quantitative analysts and data scientists to turn research models into reliable, production grade software. You'll play a key role in strengthening the engineering foundations behind power price forecasting, flexible asset optimisation and trading, helping the business scale its trading operations. You'll take ownership of the Python codebase across forecasting pipelines, optimisation and dispatch systems for assets such as battery storage, gas and hydro, as well as trading, simulation and backtesting environments. Working alongside quants, you'll refactor research driven code into clean, maintainable and extensible components without compromising model accuracy. You'll establish engineering standards, improve software architecture and interfaces and strengthen testing, error handling, logging and observability. You'll also optimise performance critical code, making effective use of vectorisation, parallelism and memory management. As a senior member of the team, you'll provide technical guidance and mentoring, raising engineering standards across the analytics function. Location / WFH: You'll be based in the London office with flexibility to work from home twice a week. About you:

• You have strong Python engineering experience, building production grade systems from research or quantitative models
• You have experience developing maintainable, well structured software with clear interfaces and robust error handling
• You have strong testing skills across unit, integration and regression testing
• You have experience improving performance through vectorisation, parallel processing and efficient memory management.
• You have a strong understanding of CI/CD, deployment practices, monitoring and production reliability
• You're collaborative with great communication skills, able to work effectively with quantitative analysts, data scientists and cross-functional engineering teams What's in it for you:
