Operations Director Salary: £100,000 – £120,000 + Executive Package (Car / Car Allowance + Performance Bonus Scheme) Location: UK Wide (National Scope) Sector: HVAC & BEMS Energy Solutions About the Role Are you an executive-level operations leader looking to drive the future of smart buildings, decarbonisation, and sustainable engineering? We are seeking a high-calibre Operations Director to lead our clients national and regional delivery teams across multi-million-pound portfolios. In this strategic pivotal role, you will oversee large-scale HVAC installations, BEMS upgrades, and smart building energy optimisations, helping enterprise clients navigate their net-zero and active decarbonisation roadmaps. Key Responsibilities Strategic & Operational Leadership

• Portfolio Oversight: Command complete operational accountability across multi-site project portfolios, engineering maintenance contracts, and district energy network activities.
• Scalability & Growth: Build scalable operating structures and resource models capable of supporting rapid technical and geographic expansion.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Commercial, and Technical Design leadership to scope high-value bids, retrofits, and new-build energy centre opportunities. Commercial & P&L Management
• Financial Accountability: Full P&L responsibility for operations, driving gross margin growth, contract retention, and accurate forecasting.
• Risk Mitigation: Audit project lifecycles from initial sales handover through to final commissioning, proactively managing variations, resource bottlenecks, and supply chain risks. Technical Delivery & Decarbonisation
• System Optimisation: Champion control optimisation services, ensuring seamlessly integrated building controls with HVAC, refrigeration, and AI data-analytics engines.
• Energy Strategy Consultation: Serve as the principal technical advisor for key executive clients on system obsolescence, building management digital transformation, and verifiable carbon reduction strategies.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure exemplary site-commissioning practices, remote monitoring trend analysis, and prompt fault-resolution workflows. Team & Client Engagement
• Workforce Development: Mentor and upskill multi-disciplinary technical teams—including Project Managers, regional BEMS engineers, sub-contractors, and support staff.
• Stakeholder Management: Protect and strengthen senior relationships with Tier-1 main contractors, property developers, and enterprise end-users. Compliance & Safety
• SHE Leadership: Champion Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) standards across all technical on-site activities, asset management, and F-gas or electrical regulatory compliances. Requirements & Candidate Profile Technical Experience & Knowledge
• Industry Track Record: Proven tenure in a senior operations leadership role (e.g., Operations Director, Head of Operations) within the HVAC, BMS/BEMS controls, or energy services sector.
• Systems Literacy: Deep technical understanding of HVAC hardware, building automation protocols (BACnet, Modbus), and modern energy-analytics platforms.
• Energy Legislation: Strong grasp of carbon-reduction frameworks, district heating schemes, and sustainable engineering innovations. Leadership & Commercial Acumen
• P&L Mastery: Proven track record in managing substantial operational budgets (£20m–£50m+) while expanding operational margins.
• Change Management: Experience evolving operational models to incorporate smart technology, AI tools, and rapid organisational growth. Qualifications
• Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services) or an equivalent technical field.
• Recognised Health & Safety or Management credentials (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, PRINCE2, or equivalent executive leadership accreditations).
