About your Team:

Our team builds and supports mission-critical applications that power Interactive Brokers' back office, accounting, treasury, and compliance functions globally.

We're looking for a Senior Java Developer to drive the full software development lifecycle - from planning and prioritization through testing and release. With strong technical depth and the communication skills to align technical and business stakeholders.

This role suits someone who is organized, deadline-driven, process-disciplined, and thrives in cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and resilient financial applications
  • Optimize and refactor existing code to improve reliability and performance.
  • Partner with other developers and stakeholders to plan, prioritize, and deliver development initiatives
  • Validate AI-assisted or AI-refactored code with sufficient automated test coverage before submitting for review.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews - including validation of testing results - and ensure large change sets are broken into reviewable units
  • Collaborate across teams to implement and roll out solutions in both production and development environments.
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical issues before they impact downstream systems

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience designing and building medium-to-large scale applications using Java and/or Python/Perl on Linux platform.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java Spring, including both Spring Boot (micro services) and traditional Spring applications.
  • Strong grasp of object-oriented design principles and common design patterns.
  • Experience with JDBC and relational databases (Oracle preferred).
  • Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar) across the software development life cycle.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience partnering across development teams on critical roll outs.
  • Knowledge of financial instruments or a strong motivation to learn financial markets and concepts.

Nice to have :

  • Experience with Git, Gerrit, Bitbucket, Gradle, and/or Ivy.
  • Experience building or integrating MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers to connect AI tools with internal systems, enabling faster, AI-assisted development workflows.
  • Experience developing web applications using Spring Boot
  • Experience with SWIFT MT/MX messaging standards.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, including data lake architectures (using Parquet file formats), Athena, and EC2, for building and operating datadriven, production-grade applications.

What makes you successful in this role :

  • Strong technical and business knowledge
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management discipline.

Company Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive salary, annual performance-based bonus, and stock grant awards
  • 401(k) retirement plan with competitive company match
  • Excellent health and wellness benefits, including medical, dental, and vision benefits. 100% employer-paid medical premiums, with generous employer contributions to dental & vision plans as well.
  • Wellness screening and assessments, health coaches, and counseling services through an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Generous paid parental leave (up to 16 weeks paid parental leave for eligible employees)
  • Company-paid basic life insurance, accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D), and short- and long-term disability coverage
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (Healthcare, Dependent Care, and Commuter FSAs)
  • Quarterly fitness stipend to offset costs associated with traditional gym and fitness memberships or fees
  • Education reimbursement and professional development opportunities
  • Legal services, telehealth access, and voluntary insurance options
  • Backup child and adult care support through Care.com
  • Daily lunch allowance and fully stocked kitchen with healthy breakfast and snack options
