Project Accountant

We're working with a highly regarded organisation seeking a Qualified Accountant to join its finance team in a newly created Project Accountant position. This role is ideally suited to an ACA or ACCA Qualified Accountant who has built a strong foundation in accounting and reporting and has subsequently developed experience partnering with the business on projects, change initiatives, or investment programmes. Offering a blend of technical accounting, commercial finance and stakeholder engagement, this is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting strategic business activity while helping drive improvements in financial processes, reporting and decision-making. Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with project and business leaders to provide financial insight and support on key initiatives.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities across multiple projects.
• Monitor project performance, costs and financial outcomes, providing clear reporting and analysis.
• Assist with the accounting treatment of project-related expenditure and investment activity.
• Support the development and enhancement of project finance processes, controls and governance.
• Provide meaningful financial analysis to support strategic decision making.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across both finance and non-finance teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and systems enhancements. Skills & Experience:
• ACA or ACCA qualified.
• Trained within practice or possessing a strong technical accounting foundation.
• Experience in a finance business partnering, commercial finance, project accounting or FP&A environment.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.
• Experience supporting projects, business change, transformation programmes or investment activity.
• Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical capability.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience improving processes, controls or reporting frameworks.
• Exposure to project costing, capital expenditure or related accounting treatments would be advantageous.
• Experience working with finance systems, ERP platforms or systems implementation projects is desirable.
• Commercial mindset with the ability to influence, challenge and build effective stakeholder relationships.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment.
