The successful candidate will work across multidisciplinary teams to understand existing processes, identify pain points and opportunities, and design future-state workflows that make practical and responsible use of AI. This is not a technical AI development role. Instead, we are looking for an accomplished Business Analyst who understands what AI can and cannot do, and can translate that understanding into practical process improvements and operating models. The role will involve significant stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation, so you will need to be a confident communicator who can constructively challenge stakeholders, defend recommendations and navigate complex organisational structures. Key Responsibilities You will:
- Analyse and map existing business processes and workflows, identifying pain points, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Design future-state processes and AI-enabled workflows.
- Assess where AI, automation, knowledge management and decision-support capabilities could add genuine value to existing ways of working.
- Consider the capabilities, limitations, risks and practical implications of AI when developing recommendations.
- Facilitate workshops and engagement sessions with business, operational, user-focused and technical stakeholders.
- Challenge assumptions and confidently present and defend recommendations when required.
- Produce clear as-is and to-be process maps, operating models, requirements, recommendations and other Business Analysis artefacts.
- Identify risks, dependencies, constraints and change impacts associated with proposed process redesigns.
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to balance user, business, operational and technical requirements.
- Develop approaches and reusable process blueprints that can be applied across different teams and environments.
- Translate complex findings into practical recommendations and delivery plans.
- Navigate organisational governance, reporting structures and appropriate internal channels when progressing recommendations. Essential Experience We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- Significant experience as a Senior Business Analyst, Lead Business Analyst or Business Process Analyst.
- Strong experience in business process analysis, process mapping and process redesign.
- Experience designing as-is and future-state/to-be workflows.
- Practical understanding of Artificial Intelligence, including its capabilities, opportunities and limitations.
- Experience assessing where AI can be incorporated into business workflows and processes.
- Experience facilitating workshops, discovery sessions and stakeholder engagement sessions.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including working with senior and potentially challenging stakeholders.
- The confidence to challenge existing thinking and defend evidence-based recommendations.
- Experience producing Business Analysis artefacts such as process maps, requirements, operating models and recommendations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and complex environments.
- Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Desirable Experience The following would strengthen an application:
- Previous experience within government, the wider public sector or another large and complex regulated organisation.
- Experience working with policy, strategy or operational teams.
- Experience of Generative AI / GenAI transformation programmes.
- Knowledge of AI-enabled knowledge management, workflow automation or decision-support tools.
- Experience developing Target Operating Models or future-state operating models.
- Experience delivering transformation or process improvement within consulting environments.
- Familiarity with complex governance, approval and reporting structures. What We Are Looking For The strongest candidates will combine excellent Business Analysis fundamentals with practical AI knowledge. You do not need to be an AI Engineer, Data Scientist or Machine Learning specialist. However, you should be able to demonstrate through previous projects that you understand:
- Where AI can improve business processes
- Where AI may not be appropriate
- The practical limitations and risks associated with AI
- How to translate AI opportunities into realistic workflow designs
- How to bring stakeholders with you when introducing new ways of working
