Software Engineering Manager

(Fully Remote) Engineering Manager: B2B SaaS Platform – Up to £130k (base) Imagine being the manager who still gets to build. Leading a small group of engineers while shipping real code, and shaping how a senior team uses AI to build products people love. That's the opportunity on the table. My client is an established SaaS scale-up whose platform helps product, design and engineering teams work better together. They have a small, senior engineering team, and now they need a hands on Engineering Manager to lead people, write code and help define how the team builds agentically. Here's what you'll be doing:

• Lead and grow your engineers. Line manage a handful of engineers across different squads, running 1:1s, supporting their progression and having the real conversations that come with management.
• Stay close to the code. Contribute meaningful code within your own squad across a modern full-stack codebase with a React front end, especially early on while you get to know the product.
• Shape how the team builds with AI. A large share of new code is already written with AI and agentic tools. You'll help drive how the team uses them, from tooling choices to ways of working.
• Own delivery. Communicate clearly, scope sensibly and make sure your team ships on scope and on time. Here's what they are looking for:
• You're an experienced manager who wants to get closer to the code again, rather than an engineer taking your first step into management.
• A product engineering mindset. You care about users and outcomes more than technical purity.
• You're experimenting with AI beyond just the basics. You've tried different tools and harnesses, and you're thinking about how agentic coding can change the way a team builds.
