Private Client Paralegal

Canterbury | Full Time | Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Private Client Paralegal to join a busy and supportive Private Client team in Canterbury.

You will work closely with solicitors and other members of the department, providing hands-on support across a varied range of Private Client matters. This would suit someone who already has experience within Private Client and is looking for a role where they can further develop their knowledge and take on greater responsibility.

The role

Your responsibilities will include assisting with matters relating to:

  • Wills and Will drafting
  • Probate and estate administration
  • Trusts
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Estate and succession planning
  • Preparing legal documents, forms and correspondence
  • Liaising with clients, beneficiaries and third parties
  • Obtaining information and documentation relating to estates
  • Assisting with probate applications and the administration of estates
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date files
  • Supporting fee earners with the day-to-day management of their caseloads
  • Managing your own files or aspects of files where appropriate and in line with your experience

About you

We are looking for someone who has previous experience working within a busy Private Client department and a good understanding of the processes involved in Wills, Probate and estate administration.

You should be:

  • An experienced Private Client Paralegal or Legal Assistant with relevant practical experience
  • Confident dealing with clients in a professional and empathetic manner
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing competing priorities and deadlines
  • A strong written and verbal communicator
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Confident using case management systems and Microsoft Office

Previous experience of running your own files would be desirable, although this is not essential for someone with strong Private Client experience who is ready to take the next step.

Hours & benefits

  • Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
  • 24 days' annual leave, plus bank holidays
  • Annual leave increases after five years' service by one additional day per year, up to a maximum of 29 days
  • Full-time permanent opportunity
  • Supportive Private Client team
  • Opportunity to develop your experience across a broad range of Private Client work

If you have solid Private Client experience and are looking for your next opportunity within a Canterbury-based legal team, I'd be keen to hear from you.
