About the Role We're looking for a Market Intelligence & Research Analyst to support KPay's UK and wider Europe market entry through in-depth market research, competitive intelligence, and data-driven analysis. As one of the early members of KPay's UK expansion team, you'll play a key role in understanding the UK payments landscape, identifying high-potential merchant segments and regions, and uncovering opportunities for commercial growth. You'll research UK merchants, competitors, industry trends, product offerings, pricing structures, and market positioning to understand customer needs and competitive dynamics. Beyond desk research, you'll validate assumptions through data analysis and merchant interviews, translating findings into clear, actionable recommendations on where to focus, how to position our offerings, and how to approach market expansion. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys investigating markets, connecting insights across different sources, and turning research into practical business recommendations. You'll have the opportunity to shape KPay's UK expansion strategy from the ground up in a fast-paced, 0-to-1 environment where your findings will directly inform commercial decisions. Responsibilities
- UK Market & Regional Research: Conduct in-depth research into the UK payments landscape, assessing market size, regional opportunities, merchant demographics, industry trends, and growth potential across different locations and verticals.
- Competitive Intelligence: Analyse competitor products, pricing, fee structures, value propositions, distribution channels, and market positioning to identify competitive gaps and differentiation opportunities.
- Merchant Research & Customer Insights: Research UK SME needs, payment behaviours, operational challenges, and purchasing considerations. Conduct merchant interviews and gather first-hand insights to validate market assumptions.
- Market Opportunity Assessment: Evaluate potential merchant segments, industry verticals, and geographic markets using quantitative and qualitative data to identify and prioritise opportunities for expansion.
- Data Analysis & Hypothesis Validation: Gather, clean, and analyse market and competitor data to test assumptions, identify patterns, and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Strategic Recommendations: Translate research findings into clear recommendations on target markets, customer segments, competitive positioning, product offerings, pricing considerations, and market entry approaches.
- Market Intelligence Reporting: Develop structured research reports, competitor benchmarking, market maps, and insight dashboards to support the Regional team's planning and decision-making.
- GTM Strategy Support: Collaborate with Strategy, Finance, Product, Marketing, and Commercial teams to ensure market insights inform go-to-market strategies, product positioning, and expansion initiatives.
- Ongoing Market Monitoring: Track changes in competitor activity, industry developments, regulatory considerations, and market trends to identify emerging opportunities and risks. Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in market research, strategy, consulting, business intelligence, commercial analysis, or a related field; fresh graduates with strong analytical and research backgrounds are welcome to apply too.
- Strong research skills, with the ability to independently investigate unfamiliar markets and products, identify relevant information, and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Strong analytical capabilities, with experience collecting, interpreting, and synthesising quantitative and qualitative data.
- Excellent critical thinking skills, with the ability to challenge assumptions, assess the reliability of information, and validate hypotheses using evidence.
- Strong commercial awareness and an interest in fintech, payments, the UK SME landscape, and competitive market dynamics.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and presenting findings; experience with SQL, data visualisation tools, or web data crawling is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex research into concise, structured, and actionable recommendations.
- Detail-oriented, resourceful, and self-driven, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment where processes are still being developed.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and excited by the opportunity to contribute to building a new market from 0 to 1.
- Based in the UK; right to work required.
