Interim Head of Commercial Markets

Starfish Search are supporting a local authority in the North on the appointment of an Interim Head of Commercial Markets, overseeing its commercial markets portfolio alongside bereavement and amenities services. Key responsibilities

• Lead the council's commercial markets, bereavement and amenities services.
• Oversee complex, multi-site operations, ensuring services are safe, efficient and compliant with statutory requirements.
• Lead teams and manage significant budgets and income streams.
• Drive operational performance, service improvement and effective commercial management.
• Work closely with senior leaders and stakeholders across the council to ensure effective service delivery. About you
• Significant experience in a senior operational leadership role within local government.
• Strong experience managing complex, multi-site services, teams and budgets.
• Experience across markets, commercial operations, bereavement, crematoria, cemeteries or wider amenities services would be particularly relevant.
• Confident managing income-generating services and balancing commercial priorities with statutory responsibilities.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management and operational delivery skills. Due to high application volumes, we may not be able to respond to every applicant individually.
