Snowflake Data Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Snowflake Data Engineer/Developer to design, develop and optimise scalable, high-performance data solutions. You will bring extensive Data Engineering experience, including at least hands-on Snowflake expertise, with a strong technical background in data warehousing, ETL/ELT and cloud-based data integration. Working closely with business stakeholders, architects and analytics teams, you will build robust data platforms that support business intelligence, reporting and data-driven decision-making. Location: Edinburgh or London Basis: Initially a fixed term contract for 6 months Hybrid: 2/3 days On client site Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise scalable Snowflake data warehouse solutions.
• Build, maintain and enhance ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion, transformation and processing.
• Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures and reusable data components.
• Monitor and improve the performance, reliability and scalability of data solutions.
• Integrate Snowflake with AWS or Azure services and third-party applications.
• Implement and maintain data quality, security and governance standards.
• Develop effective data models to support analytics and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, solution architects and analytics teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Support business intelligence and reporting platforms, including Power BI and Tableau.
• Contribute to CI/CD, DevOps and Agile delivery practices. What We're Looking For
• Extensive Data Engineering experience.
• Considerable hands-on experience designing and developing solutions using Snowflake.
• Strong SQL skills, including complex querying, stored procedures and performance optimisation.
• Strong Python programming experience for data engineering and automation.
• In-depth knowledge of ETL/ELT development and data warehousing concepts.
• Experience working with AWS services such as Glue, S3 and Lambda, or equivalent Microsoft Azure services.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
• Strong understanding of data modelling, performance tuning and query optimisation.
• Experience integrating cloud data platforms with third-party systems and applications.
• Knowledge of data quality, security and governance principles.
• Experience supporting Power BI, Tableau or similar business intelligence platforms.
• Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
