Group Accountant | 12-Month FTC with Permanent Potential | c.£70,000 + Benefits | Hybrid – London / UK-wide I'm working with a fast-growing, PE-backed group that needs an experienced Group Accountant to join its central finance team for the next 12 months. The group is buying businesses and bringing them together at pace. You'd step into a senior role with real influence while the current post-holder moves onto a major systems project. The opportunity The group is a UK multi-site business with revenue of over £200m, built largely through acquisitions. Many of the businesses it has bought still run with their own local finance teams, systems and ways of working. Group finance is now bringing them together under common controls, policies and reporting. Anyone who likes building structure where it doesn't yet exist will find plenty of scope here. You'll report to the Group Financial Controller. You'll own the group reporting cycle and act as the technical go-to person across the business. What you'll be doing

  • Running the monthly group consolidation, including intercompany and cash flow, and producing the group reporting pack
  • Reviewing management accounts and balance sheets across the group, and challenging treatments where needed
  • Leading the year-end group audit and managing the relationship with the external auditors
  • Reviewing the statutory accounts and tax computations (preparation is largely outsourced)
  • Advising on technical accounting, including acquisition accounting, leases and new transactions, often through written position papers
  • Helping integrate newly bought businesses, including completion accounts, a standard chart of accounts and group policies
  • Helping with tax compliance, banking and cash forecasting
  • Working closely with the Head of FP&A
  • Managing and developing one accountant What you'll bring
  • ACA or equivalent, ideally trained in audit at a top practice firm, with at least 3 years' post-qualified experience including time in industry
  • Strong consolidation and group reporting experience, and a solid grasp of UK GAAP and IFRS
  • Confidence dealing with auditors and writing clear technical accounting positions
  • The ability to work independently, get going quickly and use good judgement in a fast-changing environment
  • Strong people skills, so you can bring local finance teams on board with new ways of working It would also help to have:
  • Experience in a PE-backed, acquisitive or multi-site group
  • Exposure to a new system being brought in (NetSuite would be a bonus)
  • An interest in UK tax or treasury Why this role? It's a fixed-term contract, but it isn't a short-term stopgap. The group plans to keep growing, and its finance function is being built to match. That's expected to create further senior roles over the next few years in areas such as integration and shared services, which strong performers would be well placed to move into. Package
  • £70,000 base salary with a discretionary bonus
  • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, a pension and a wellbeing package
  • Hybrid working with at least one day a week on site. You can be based in London or near one of the group's UK sites, and travel is covered Interviews are already under way, so candidates available at short notice will be prioritised.
