SSQ is partnering with a US client on a highly strategic internal appointment within its Office of General Counsel. The firm is looking to appoint a Head of Employee Relations to lead on its most complex, sensitive and high-profile people matters. This is a senior, legally qualified role with significant exposure to Partners, firm leadership and senior executives, advising on matters where legal, commercial and reputational considerations are often closely intertwined. The remit will include complex employee relations matters, senior exits, investigations, grievances, disciplinary issues, performance and conduct matters, employment disputes, organisational change and broader employment risk. The successful candidate will be:

  • Legally qualified, with deep employment law and employee relations expertise
  • Experienced in handling complex and sensitive ER matters within a large corporate, professional services firm, financial institution or similarly sophisticated organisation
  • Comfortable advising Partners, C-suite executives and senior leadership
  • Experienced in high-level investigations, contentious matters and senior exits
  • Commercial, pragmatic and able to exercise strong judgement in highly sensitive situations
  • Credible enough to challenge and influence at the most senior levels This is not a traditional HR role. It sits within the OGC and will suit someone who combines strong legal expertise with the judgement, discretion and stakeholder skills required to operate at the highest level. A rare opportunity to take on a genuinely influential role within a leading international law firm.
