at St Michael's Hospice (Hastings and Rother)
Charity

End of Life Charity

Shape the future of one of the UK's most successful hospice lotteries. We're seeking Non-Executive Directors to join the St Michael's Hospice Lottery Board. Help provide strategic direction and governance for a lottery that has raised over £10 million for hospice care in Hastings and Rother. What difference will you make? The Hospice Lottery is a vital source of income for St Michael's Hospice, helping fund care and support for local people and the people who matter to them when they need it most. As a Non-Executive Director, you'll help ensure the Lottery continues to thrive in an increasingly competitive environment. Through strategic oversight, challenge and support, you'll contribute to decisions that strengthen the Lottery's long-term sustainability, helping maximise the income it generates for the Hospice. Your contribution will help the Lottery adapt to changing market conditions, identify opportunities for growth and maintain the high standards of governance, compliance and customer experience that underpin its success. In doing so, you'll be helping safeguard a significant source of funding for Hospice services both now and in the future. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference at a strategic level. The decisions made by the Lottery Board have a direct impact on the Lottery's ability to generate income, helping ensure that more local people can access compassionate end of life care and support when they need it most. What are we looking for? Hybrid What will you be doing? Whether you're an experienced NED or looking for your first non-executive role, this is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of one of the UK's most successful hospice lotteries, generating vital income that funds compassionate end of life care for people across Hastings and Rother. Having raised more than £10 million for St Michael's Hospice, the Lottery has a proven track record and an established reputation in the community. As we look to the future, we're seeking people who can help guide the next chapter of the Lottery's development and success. As a member of the Lottery Board, you'll work alongside fellow Non-Executive Directors, members of the Hospice Leadership Team and Lottery colleagues to shape the strategic direction of the Lottery, helping ensure it remains successful, sustainable and responsive to future opportunities and challenges. You'll provide oversight, challenge and support on matters including performance, risk, governance, regulatory compliance and customer experience. The Board plays an important role in balancing commercial growth with the Lottery's purpose of generating vital income for hospice care, ensuring decisions support both long-term sustainability and the highest standards of integrity. This is more than a governance role. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to discussions about the future of the Lottery, helping identify opportunities for innovation, growth and development in an increasingly competitive marketplace. Your insight and perspective will help shape decisions that directly influence the Lottery's future success and impact. The Lottery Board has a collaborative and constructive relationship with the Hospice's senior leadership team and Trustees. Board members are encouraged to contribute their expertise, ask challenging questions and bring fresh thinking that helps strengthen decision-making and supports continuous improvement. You'll also act as an ambassador for both the Lottery and the Hospice, helping to build relationships, raise awareness and support our reputation within the community. This is an exciting time to join the Board. The Lottery already plays a significant role in funding local hospice care, and there is real opportunity to build on its success in the years ahead. By joining us, you'll help shape the future of an organisation that makes a meaningful difference to thousands of local people and families every year. The role requires approximately two days per quarter for Board meetings and related activity. Reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
