Environment, Health and Safety Manager

🚨 SHE MANAGER | FOOD MANUFACTURING | SOUTH WEST £55,000–£60,000 + 10% bonus + private medical I'm supporting an established food manufacturer in Dorset with the appointment of a SHE Manager who can combine strong technical expertise with visible, engaging leadership. This is much more than a compliance role. Reporting to the Operations Director, you'll lead the site's Safety, Health, Environmental and Sustainability agenda, develop the existing SHE team and contribute as a key member of the wider business leadership team. You'll be responsible for:

• Leading and developing the site's SHE strategy
• Maintaining and developing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
• Managing accident and near-miss investigations
• Delivering meaningful improvements in safety performance
• Developing the site's long-term sustainability programme
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider group
• Making SHE engaging, accessible and part of everyone's responsibility The three things we're really looking for are: 1️⃣ Technical credibility You'll be a genuine subject-matter expert, with relevant formal qualifications and strong knowledge of SHE legislation, management systems, auditing and environmental compliance. 2️⃣ Leadership experience You'll be able to coach and develop your team, influence senior stakeholders and contribute beyond the SHE function as part of the site leadership team. 3️⃣ Energy and engagement SHE can sometimes be seen as a dry subject. We need someone with the personality, confidence and communication skills to bring it to life and take people with them. Manufacturing experience is essential, but this does not need to have been gained within food manufacturing. Ideally, you'll hold qualifications such as NEBOSH and IEMA/ISEP, alongside experience of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
