The Company JSM Group designs and builds the power networks and digital infrastructure that clients across the UK, Europe and beyond depend on — from high-voltage grid connections and critical utilities to data centres and renewable energy. Our civil, power and digital engineers work under one roof, giving clients one team from design to energisation, with the technical, commercial and consenting risk managed from day one. THE TEAM Most AI roles hand you a ticket. This one hands you a problem. JSM Group builds the infrastructure behind the UK's energy and communications networks. We're rolling out AI across the business, and we need someone who can work out where it helps, and then build it. Expect to spend as much time with the business as at your keyboard. You'll sit with teams across finance, operations, field delivery and support. You'll find out where their time goes, spot the tasks AI can take on, and prototype solutions with the people who'll use them. When a prototype proves itself, you'll take it into production as an agent, an automated workflow or an integration with our core systems. SCOPE OF ROLE The AI Solutions Engineer works directly with end users to build and deliver AI use cases across JSM, under the direction of the Change & Business Improvement Lead. This is a hands-on, technical role at the heart of the AI adoption programme. What You'll Do

  • Run workshops and interviews with departments to map how work gets done and where time is lost
  • Capture requirements and build the business case for each opportunity
  • Recommend the right fix, whether that's an AI agent, a standard automation or a process change
  • Model and test AI solutions with users before committing to a build
  • Build agents, automated workflows and integrations using Python, APIs and large language model platforms
  • Help users adopt what you build, and measure the impact What You'll Bring
  • A degree in Computer Science or a related subject, with AI or machine learning content, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • At least one year of commercial experience (a placement year counts), with exposure to project delivery
  • Business analysis skills: running workshops, mapping processes and turning conversations into requirements
  • Python and API skills, and a portfolio or projects that show you can build
  • Hands-on experience with large language models: prompting, agents, tool use
  • The confidence to work with colleagues from field teams to directors and explain your work in plain terms Experience with Claude, Claude Code or MCP connectors is a plus. So is any background in construction, utilities or infrastructure. What We Offer
  • Pay & reward — competitive salary, performance-linked bonus and car allowance (where applicable), 4% matched pension
  • Time off — 28 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Health & wellbeing — BUPA health cash plan, Benenden Health, employee assistance programme
  • Career growth — funded training through our Training Centre and Competency Cloud, professional memberships and a clear route to chartership or higher authorisation
  • Extras — electric car salary-sacrifice scheme ENGINEERED TO BELONG Our values — personal responsibility, sound judgment, drive, and being brilliant individually but unbeatable as one — shape how we work on every project. We give you the work to stretch you and the support to develop fast. See what life at JSM looks like at careers.jsmgroup.com. READY TO APPLY?
