About the job

Build your finance career — join BFBS as our new Assistant Management Accountant We're looking for a proactive, detail-focused Assistant Management Accountant to join our Finance team at BFBS. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with financial detail, collaborating with colleagues across the organisation and helping to maintain high-quality financial information. You'll support month-end reporting, budgeting, variance analysis and strong financial controls, while developing broad management accounting experience across commercial and charitable activities. What you'll be doing

  • Support monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare variance analysis and support P&L reviews with business teams.
  • Process and upload accurate monthly financial data for overseas operations.
  • Process intercompany transactions and reconcile balances across entities.
  • Maintain accurate Welfare Fund accounts, reporting and supporting records.
  • Report project expenditure clearly against budgets.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
  • Support year-end close and external audit activities.
  • Contribute to process improvements and provide wider Finance support.
  • You will be part-qualified in AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA or an equivalent qualification, or actively studying towards one of these. Alongside this, you will have a good understanding of basic accounting principles and the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • You'll be organised and comfortable managing multiple deadlines, with a proactive approach and the confidence to take initiative. You'll bring strong problem-solving skills, work collaboratively as part of a team, and remain adaptable, professional and reliable in a changing environment. If you have any questions or require more clarity about the role and what to expect, feel free to contact opportunities@bfbs.com Closing Date: Monday 19th October 2026 Use of AI We strongly encourage you to prepare your application in your own words and, wherever reasonably possible, without using generative AI to create or substantially rewrite this. However, if you need to use AI or other assistive technology as a reasonable adjustment to enable you to participate in our recruitment process, you are welcome to do so and this will not disadvantage your application.
