Senior Tax Analyst

Senior Tax Analyst | London | 6 Month Contract If you like a tax puzzle, this one could suit you. I'm partnering with a well-known consumer brand that's looking for an experienced tax professional to help its tax team with a busy period of project work. This is an initial six-month contract. This is a project-focused role rather than traditional BAU compliance. The team has live tax authority audits running, historical issues to resolve and opportunities to recover overpaid tax. They need someone who can take ownership of that work so day-to-day operations aren't disrupted. What you'll be doing:

• Investigating historical tax and balance sheet positions
• Supporting ongoing tax authority audits and investigations
• Playing a key part in a review of historical overseas tax reporting
• Finding opportunities to recover overpaid tax and other assets
• Working with stakeholders across the business to understand how processes and transactions have been handled in the past What we're looking for:
• A strong VAT compliance background, including returns, reconciliations and balance sheets
• Experience supporting tax authority or internal audits
• A naturally curious, hands-on approach to getting to the root of complex issues
• Comfort working independently on ambiguous problems
• Confidence explaining tax to people outside the tax function
• Ideally, an in-house background in retail, e-commerce or consumer goods. Candidates from the Big Four with broad, practical experience will also be considered. If the role could be of interest, please get in touch. My client is looking to interview straight away.
