Assistant Project Manager
Capstone Recruitment UKAssistant Project Manager – Interiors & Workplace Location: London Sector: Commercial Interiors, Workplace, Refurbishment & Hospitality The Opportunity An opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to join a growing London Project Management team delivering commercial interiors, workplace, refurbishment and hospitality projects. The team works with a strong mix of occupiers, investors, developers and operators, delivering projects from early design and procurement through to construction and handover. This role would suit an APM looking for greater project responsibility, direct client exposure and a clear route to Project Manager level. The Team & Culture The team has grown rapidly over the pass few years, while maintaining a close-knit and entrepreneurial culture. Senior leaders remain closely involved in projects and clients, giving junior team members good exposure and the opportunity to learn directly from experienced Project Managers. The culture is collaborative but gives people autonomy. APMs are encouraged to take ownership, contribute in client meetings and build relationships rather than remain in a purely supporting role. The Projects The project mix is broad and includes:
- Commercial office fit-out
- Workplace
- Landlord-led development
- Hotels and hospitality
- Restaurants
- Mixed-use schemes Clients range from major global occupiers and institutional investors to flexible workspace operators, technology businesses, luxury brands and hospitality groups. The variety of work gives APMs the opportunity to build experience across different project types rather than being tied to a single account or sector. The Role Working alongside Project Managers and senior members of the team, you will support projects from inception through to completion. Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting day-to-day project delivery
- Attending client and project meetings
- Coordinating consultants, designers and contractors
- Managing actions, risks and project information
- Supporting project programmes and reporting
- Assisting with procurement and tender processes
- Monitoring construction progress and quality
- Supporting practical completion and handover
- Building relationships with clients and project teams As you develop, you will be given increasing responsibility for individual workstreams and smaller projects. About You You are likely to have some initial Project Management experience within a consultancy, developer, contractor or related construction/property environment. Commercial interiors experience would be useful but is not essential. The team is equally interested in candidates who demonstrate the right attitude and potential. You should be:
- Ambitious and keen to progress
- Proactive and comfortable taking responsibility
- Confident communicating with clients
- Organised and commercially aware
- Interested in interiors, workplace and refurbishment
- Keen to develop into a well-rounded Project Manager Progression The aim is to develop you into an independent, client-facing Project Manager. As your experience grows, you will take greater ownership of projects, build your own client relationships and progress through the team. With the team continuing to grow, there is a clear pathway from Assistant Project Manager to Project Manager, Senior Project Manager and beyond.
