Financial Controller - Leading Hedge Fund - £110k - £125k + Bonus

Autumnal Partners is working with a leading alternative investment manager across hedge fund and private credit strategies to appoint an exceptional Financial Controller. The firm is embarking on a significant transformation of its finance function, with a mandate to rethink, rebuild and scale its existing infrastructure, placing technology, automation and AI at the centre of how finance operates. This is not a conventional Financial Controller position. Alongside ownership of core financial control and reporting, the successful candidate will play a central role in examining existing processes, identifying what can be simplified or automated, and helping design and implement a significantly more efficient and scalable finance operating model. Key responsibilities will include:

• Ownership of financial control, reporting and month-end processes
• Reviewing and redesigning existing finance processes and controls
• Helping build a scalable finance infrastructure capable of supporting the continued growth of the business
• Identifying opportunities to automate manual and repetitive finance processes
• Working with technology and data teams to embed AI, automation and improved data architecture across finance
• Improving the quality, speed and accessibility of management information
• Developing controls and governance around new technology-enabled processes
• Working closely with senior finance leadership on the broader transformation of the function
• Supporting and developing the wider finance team through a period of significant change We are looking for an excellent qualified accountant with a strong track record within financial control and reporting, ideally gained within an asset manager, hedge fund, private credit manager or broader financial services organisation. The successful candidate will combine strong accounting and control fundamentals with a genuine interest in technology, automation and the practical application of AI within finance. You do not need to be a technologist. You do, however, need to be intellectually curious about how finance functions can operate differently and have the ability to understand existing processes, challenge why they are done that way and help build something better. This opportunity should particularly appeal to someone who wants to do more than maintain an established finance function. The mandate is to help take the function apart, understand what needs to remain, and rebuild it for the next stage of the firm's development.
