• $40–$100 per hour equivalent, paid per task
  • 100% remote
  • Part-time
  • Fully flexible schedule Work on the cutting edge of AI design tools, on your own schedule, and get paid for the mechanical CAD expertise you already have. The AI design tools everyone is talking about are trained and tested by real mechanical CAD specialists. The teams building them need people who can create realistic parts and assemblies, judge whether the resulting models are accurate and manufacturable, build the model a skilled professional would produce, and explain the key modeling decisions behind it. Your judgment helps shape the next generation of AI models for engineering and manufacturing. This is that work, done remotely around your current job. What you'll do
  • Turn written briefs into fully parametric 3D models of single parts and assemblies, setting up dependable sketches, constraints and feature trees
  • Update existing CAD models when requirements change, keeping the design manufacturable and within specification
  • Compare dimensions, tolerances, feature trees and design intent with the brief and manufacturing requirements
  • Record key modeling decisions and give clear technical feedback on gaps, errors and deviations Why this is worth your time
  • Build real AI skills on top of your current job while earning the equivalent of $40–$100 an hour
  • Work directly with frontier AI CAD tools and see how they are built, tested and improved, experience most mechanical CAD specialists will not have for years
  • Build a career edge for what comes next: AI is reshaping mechanical CAD and manufacturing, and the people who understand it from the inside will lead that change
  • Fully remote, fully flexible, no minimum shift, no commute Who this is for
  • Extensive hands-on experience with parametric CAD platforms, ideally FreeCAD, or strong Fusion 360, SolidWorks or Inventor experience
  • Applied GD&T knowledge (ASME Y14.5 or an equivalent standard) and design-for-manufacturing expertise across at least two production processes
  • At least four years of applied CAD work for model-editing tasks (ten or more for complex model creation); professional fluency in English
  • No AI experience needed. You bring the expertise; we bring the training on the tools. Pay and details
  • $40–$100 per hour equivalent; pay is per task, as an independent contractor
  • Part-time, flexible schedule; fully remote, United Kingdom How to apply
  1. Apply on OpenTrain (about two minutes; upload your CV).
  2. Complete a short application on the hiring platform.
  3. If shortlisted, take a short AI interview. Most people hear back within days. Ready to put your mechanical CAD expertise to work at the frontier of AI? Apply today. About OpenTrain AI OpenTrain AI connects experienced professionals with paid, part-time AI training work: shaping and improving the AI systems that companies are building right now.
