The Opportunity As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will be a vital link in the diagnostic chain, joining a high-calibre team dedicated to patient-centred excellence. You aren't just handling samples; you are safeguarding the integrity of the data that clinicians rely on to make critical treatment decisions. In this role, your primary focus is driving high-quality testing standards for every patient who relies on Voy in their health decisions. What You'll Do

  • Own the pre-analytical phase by validating specimen labelling, viability, and overall sample integrity
  • Input and coordinate the high-volume intake of samples to ensure a steady "pull" through to the analytical team
  • Execute daily maintenance and operational checks on pre-analytical equipment to prevent downtime, keeping accurate logs and records
  • Enable the procurement, stock rotation, and stewardship of sensitive reagents and laboratory consumables
  • Input and verify patient data within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) with zero margin for error
  • Oversee the safe disposal of clinical waste and maintain strict adherence to COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) standards
  • Identify and resolve pre-analytical discrepancies (e.g., haemolysis, insufficient volume) through direct communication with senior laboratory staff
  • Participate actively in internal audits and "Lean Lab" initiatives to continuously refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) Who You Are
  • A detail-oriented professional with a strong commitment to patient care and a "right-first-time" mindset, understanding that behind every barcode is a person awaiting results
  • Comfortable managing high-volume, fast-paced workloads without compromising on diagnostic quality or accuracy
  • A proactive problem-solver who sees beyond individual samples to understand and optimize the entire diagnostic journey
  • Possess strong organizational skills and technical aptitude, with the ability to comfortably navigate complex lab IT systems
  • Able to remain calm, focused, and resilient under the pressure of urgent clinical deadlines
  • A collaborative team player who communicates clearly and takes full ownership of outcomes rather than just executing tasks What We Offer
  • Full Training & Clear Career Progression: Complete on-the-job training, CPD, fully funded GPhC qualifications, and mentorship to help you grow your career in a rapidly evolving company.
  • Work-Life Balance: Full-time hours with flexible scheduling options.
