A leading financial institution is looking to appoint a Senior Employment Counsel to join its established legal team in London. The role offers broad exposure to complex employment matters across an international business, with the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders and contribute to key strategic projects. The opportunity would suit a Counsel or Junior Partner from a leading private practice firm, or a senior in-house employment lawyer, with strong experience across contentious and non-contentious employment matters. Financial services experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising on a broad range of employment matters across the business, including complex employee relations issues, conduct matters, hiring, restrictive covenants and international relocations.
  • Managing employment litigation and disputes, including employment tribunal claims and other court proceedings, as well as overseeing external solicitors where appropriate.
  • Advising on internal investigations, including matters with a regulatory connection.
  • Supporting the employment aspects of M&A transactions and other corporate activity.
  • Providing advice on compensation and benefits, pay reporting obligations and related policies.
  • Monitoring employment law and regulatory developments across the UK and EMEA, advising on their impact and supporting implementation.
  • Working with HR, Legal, Compliance, Tax and other stakeholders on global projects, policy development, systems and controls, and emerging issues such as the use of AI in the workplace. The successful candidate will have excellent technical employment law expertise, strong commercial judgement and the ability to advise confidently on sensitive and complex matters in a fast-paced, international environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading global financial institution in a senior, commercially focused role with a broad remit and significant stakeholder exposure.
