About the job

Scrums.com is looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer / SDET to help shape their client's next-generation event-driven platform, working on systems where reliability and data integrity genuinely matter. This is an engineering-first quality role: you'll be writing code, not just executing test scripts, embedded in a team that treats testing as a first-class engineering discipline. You'll own quality across complex, distributed systems, from API and microservice layers through to Kafka-based event pipelines, with real influence over how testing is architected rather than bolted on at the end.A strong fit for someone who wants to move beyond manual QA and build automation frameworks that scale with a fast-moving, data-intensive product.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain automated test suites for APIs and microservices.
  • Build and run tests for Kafka-based and other event-driven workflows, validating message flow, ordering, and failure handling.
  • Validate data integrity and correctness in MongoDB, including schema and query-level checks.
  • Develop and maintain integration and end-to-end automation across multi-service workflows.
  • Conduct regression, performance, and reliability testing to catch issues before release.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery.
  • Write test automation primarily in Python, contributing reusable frameworks and tooling.

Experience and education

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in a test automation or SDET capacity.
  • Proven experience automating tests for APIs and microservices.
  • Hands-on experience testing Kafka or similar event-driven/message-based architectures.
  • Experience validating data in MongoDB or comparable NoSQL data stores.
  • Strong background in integration and end-to-end workflow automation.
  • Experience with performance and reliability testing, not just functional regression.
  • Strong Python skills for building and maintaining automation, not just usage of existing scripts.
  • Comfortable working in an engineering-oriented QA culture, not a manual-testing environment.
