Basketball Coach Mentor
at Greenhouse SportsAbout Us
Established in 2002, Greenhouse Sports charity is leading the fight for a future where young people are supported and empowered, whatever their challenges, through sport. We coach and mentor young people from deprived backgrounds because the crisis for children living in deprivation is real and it is urgent. Children from the poorest families are 3 times more likely to not participate in any extra-curricular activities compared to those from wealthier families and they lack many opportunities that are available to their wealthier peers. The Role
As a Greenhouse Coach Mentor, you'll use basketball intentionally to support the whole young person's development. Through our STEP curriculum (Social, Thinking, Emotional and Physical), you'll create positive environments and learning experiences that develop young people's skills both on and off the court. You'll take ownership of your programme by planning purposeful sessions, building meaningful relationships, reflecting on your practice, and adapting your approach to meet the needs of the young people you support. As a coach mentor you will also work closely with the Impact Team to collect high-quality data to demonstrate the effectiveness of what we do and to quantify the difference we make to our young people. Data is collected at designated times throughout the year and includes; case studies, questionnaires, skills and fitness testing. Our coaches also regularly review the young peoples' progress and set targets for their future development. The Person
To be considered for this role you must hold a NGB Level 2 (or equivalent) coaching qualification and have experience of successfully delivering and managing top quality basketball programmes for children and young people in a school, community or sports club setting. You will also demonstrate strong mentoring skills and experience, as well as being a confident and capable IT user with excellent administrative and organisational skills needed to effectively plan and manage the programme and capture all relevant data in a timely manner. You will be highly passionate about the Greenhouse Sports mission, values and beliefs and helping young people learn and develop. All Greenhouse Sports employees are provided with comprehensive Continuous Professional Development support and are expected to commit fully to Greenhouse's Safeguarding & Child Protection policy. Please ensure you have provided both your CV and Cover Letter to support your application. Application Deadline: Sunday 1st November at 23:59hrs
