Hillingdon United FC is looking for an ambitious and creative Head of Content & Media to take ownership of the club's digital content and help us tell the story of a football club being built from the ground up. This is not simply a social media posting role. We are looking for someone who can help shape how Hillingdon United looks, feels and communicates online - capturing the personalities, atmosphere, football and behind-the-scenes work that goes into developing the club. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead the club's content function, develop a strong portfolio of work and play an important role in growing HUFC's presence across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn and other digital channels. About Hillingdon United FC Hillingdon United FC is a developing grassroots football club based in the London Borough of Hillingdon. We are building the club with long-term ambitions around football development, strong standards, community, professional operations and sustainable growth. As the club continues to develop both on and off the pitch, we want our content and media presence to reflect that journey properly. We are therefore looking for somebody who wants more than simply adding another role to their CV - somebody who wants creative ownership and the opportunity to build something. The Role As Head of Content & Media, you will take the lead on the club's content strategy and creative output. You will work closely with the Chair, coaching staff, players and wider club team to capture and communicate the HUFC story. The role will include a combination of content creation, filming, editing, storytelling and social media planning. You do not need to be an expert in every area from day one, but you should be creative, proactive and comfortable taking ownership. Key Responsibilities You will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and lead HUFC's overall content and media strategy.
  • Attend selected training sessions and matchdays to capture original content.
  • Film matchday, training and behind-the-scenes footage.
  • Create engaging short-form video content for Instagram Reels and TikTok.
  • Produce matchday content including player arrivals, warm-ups, team huddles, goals, celebrations, reactions and behind-the-scenes moments.
  • Create training content including drills, coaching moments, skills, finishes and player-focused features.
  • Edit video content into polished, engaging social media pieces.
  • Help establish a consistent visual and storytelling style for Hillingdon United.
  • Plan content across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn.
  • Identify opportunities for player interviews, coach features and club stories.
  • Work alongside existing club volunteers supporting social media and communications.
  • Help build a repeatable weekly content schedule rather than relying on occasional posts.
  • Support the growth of HUFC's digital audience and online profile.
  • Help shape how the club presents itself to players, supporters, partners and future sponsors. As the function develops, there may also be an opportunity to help build and lead a small media/content team, including photographers, videographers and content assistants. What We Are Looking For We are particularly interested in hearing from people studying, working in or looking to develop experience within areas such as:
  • Sports Media
  • Digital Content
  • Videography
  • Video Editing
  • Sports Journalism
  • Social Media
  • Digital Marketing
  • Photography
  • Film Production
  • Sports Business
  • Creative Media You may already have professional experience, be at university, be a recent graduate or simply have a strong portfolio and genuine ability. For us, quality of work, creativity and attitude matter more than job titles. Ideally, You Will Have
  • A good understanding of Instagram, TikTok and short-form video content.
  • Confidence filming content using a smartphone, camera or similar equipment.
  • Experience editing video using software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut or similar.
  • A strong eye for what makes engaging sports content.
  • An understanding of football culture and what football audiences respond to.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • The confidence to work around players and coaching staff.
  • Reliability and the ability to deliver content consistently.
  • The ability to work independently and bring forward your own ideas. Previous football-club experience would be useful, but it is not essential. What You Will Get This role offers the opportunity to take genuine creative ownership rather than simply completing isolated tasks. You will be able to:
  • Build a substantial real-world sports media portfolio.
  • Create content around competitive adult football.
  • Gain experience working directly within a football club environment.
  • Take ownership of a club-wide content strategy.
  • Develop your personal portfolio and professional profile.
  • Experiment with creative ideas and new content formats.
  • Build experience across football, media, marketing and digital growth.
  • Receive appropriate recognition for your work across club channels.
  • Obtain a club reference based on your contribution and performance.
  • Potentially build and lead your own content/media team as the club grows. For the right person, there will be significant freedom to influence HUFC's creative direction. Commitment This is a volunteer position. HUFC currently trains on Wednesday evenings in West London, with fixtures predominantly taking place on Sunday mornings. We do not expect the Head of Content & Media to attend every single activity, but regular presence at training sessions and matchdays will be important in order to capture authentic content. Editing, planning and content preparation can generally be completed remotely. We are open to discussing the practical structure of the role with the successful candidate. Who This Role Would Suit This opportunity could particularly suit someone who:
  • Wants to build a career in football media or sports content.
  • Has strong editing or filming ability but needs a platform to showcase it.
  • Wants more creative responsibility than they are currently receiving.
  • Is building a professional sports-media portfolio.
  • Wants to work directly inside a football environment.
  • Enjoys telling stories rather than simply producing graphics.
  • Wants to help shape the identity of an ambitious developing football club. How to Apply Please apply through LinkedIn with your CV/profile and, where possible, include examples of previous work. This could include:
  • Instagram or TikTok accounts you have worked on.
  • Reels or short-form videos you have created.
  • Football or sports content.
  • Photography.
  • Video editing examples.
  • A portfolio, website or showreel. A formal portfolio is not essential if you can demonstrate your ability in another way. Shortlisted candidates will initially have an informal conversation with the club before being invited to attend a Hillingdon United training session or matchday to meet the team and understand the environment. If you are ambitious, creative and want the opportunity to help build the media identity of a growing football club, we would like to hear from you. Hillingdon United FC Together As One.
