UX Designer
at CCW Global LimitedUI/UX Designer — Digital Insurance Platform (Contract) Magic - Insurance, Smarter. Contract: Rolling monthly contract Initial engagement: 2–4 months Location: Sheung Wan/Central, Hong Kong About Magic Magic is building a modern digital insurance platform designed to make insurance easier to understand, compare and purchase. Our ambition is to combine the expertise and trust of an established insurance brokerage with the simplicity, transparency and technology of a modern digital business. We are now looking for an experienced UI/UX Designer to work alongside our Lead Software Engineer and project leadership to design and deliver the user experience and visual interface for the platform. This is an opportunity to help shape a digital insurance experience from the ground up. The Opportunity This is not simply a website graphic design role. We are looking for someone who understands how to design digital products and customer journeys, particularly where users need to understand complex information, compare options and ultimately make an informed purchasing decision. You will work directly with the project lead, CEO and Lead Software Engineer. We have a clear vision for Magic and the business objectives we want the platform to achieve, but we do not currently have an in-house design team. You will therefore be expected to bring your own professional expertise, challenge assumptions where appropriate and take ownership of the UX and UI design process. You will be responsible for translating our business vision into a clear, intuitive and visually compelling digital experience. Key Responsibilities UX Design & Customer Journeys
- Design intuitive customer journeys across the Magic platform.
- Map user flows from discovery through to quotation, comparison, enquiry and purchase.
- Simplify complex insurance information and decision-making processes.
- Identify friction points and opportunities to improve usability and conversion.
- Design experiences that work for users with different levels of insurance knowledge and digital confidence.
- Develop clear information architecture and navigation structures. UI & Visual Design
- Create a modern, premium and highly intuitive visual interface for Magic.
- Develop page layouts, components, forms, comparison interfaces, dashboards and customer journeys.
- Establish and maintain a consistent design system and reusable UI components.
- Ensure the interface works beautifully across desktop, tablet and mobile.
- Work within the existing Magic brand direction while helping evolve its digital expression.
- Create designs that balance simplicity and clarity with the credibility required for an insurance business. Insurance & Comparison Experience A major part of the project will involve making complex insurance products easier for customers to understand and compare. You will help design experiences for:
- Insurance quotation journeys.
- Product comparison.
- Benefit and coverage presentation.
- Eligibility questions.
- Recommendations.
- Quote results.
- Calls to action and conversion journeys.
- Lead capture and enquiry forms.
- Customer and partner-facing experiences. The ability to turn complex information into simple, intuitive interfaces is therefore particularly important. Working With Development You will work closely with the Lead Software Engineer throughout the project. Responsibilities will include:
- Producing detailed designs and prototypes that can be translated into production code.
- Working with the developer to establish reusable components and design patterns.
- Understanding technical constraints and making practical design decisions.
- Reviewing implemented designs and helping ensure the final product reflects the intended experience.
- Iterating designs based on development feedback, testing and business priorities. We want a designer who sees development as part of the design process rather than simply handing over files and moving on. AI-Ready & Future-Focused Design Magic is being designed with the future of search, AI and digital distribution in mind. The platform will contain structured insurance information, product data, provider information, benefits, eligibility criteria and comparison functionality. You will therefore help create interfaces and information structures that are:
- Clear and understandable to users.
- Consistent across products and providers.
- Scalable as new insurance products and insurers are added.
- Designed to support structured, machine-readable information.
- Suitable for future AI-enabled customer experiences and digital distribution. Required Experience & Skills We are looking for someone with:
- Proven professional experience in UI/UX design for websites or digital products.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating both UX thinking and high-quality UI design.
- Experience designing responsive web applications and complex user journeys.
- Strong understanding of user-centred design principles.
- Experience creating wireframes, user flows, prototypes and high-fidelity designs.
- Strong knowledge of modern design systems and reusable UI components.
- Experience working closely with developers to deliver production-ready designs.
- Strong understanding of responsive design across desktop and mobile.
- Excellent visual design and attention to detail.
- The ability to simplify complex information and create intuitive user experiences.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain and defend design decisions. Desirable Experience Experience in one or more of the following would be particularly valuable:
- Insurance or financial services.
- Comparison websites or marketplaces.
- Fintech or other data-intensive digital platforms.
- Quote or application journeys.
- E-commerce or conversion-focused websites.
- SaaS products or web applications.
- Complex forms and multi-step customer journeys.
- Design systems and component libraries.
- AI-enabled or data-driven digital products. Insurance experience is not essential if you can demonstrate strong experience designing complex digital products and explaining complicated information simply. How We Will Work Together You will work directly with the project lead and CEO, alongside the Lead Software Engineer. The project leadership team will provide the business vision, commercial objectives, priorities and overall brand direction. There is no dedicated in-house design team providing day-to-day creative direction. We therefore need someone who is comfortable taking ownership of the UX and UI process, making informed recommendations and proactively identifying opportunities to improve the product. We expect you to bring professional design expertise to the project and to challenge us when you believe there is a better way to solve a user or design problem. Contract & Initial Deliverables The initial engagement is expected to run for 2–4 months on a rolling monthly contract, with progress, priorities and continuation reviewed regularly. The initial scope is expected to include:
- UX architecture and key customer journeys.
- Wireframes and user flows.
- High-fidelity UI designs.
- Responsive desktop and mobile designs.
- Design system and reusable components.
- Interactive prototypes where appropriate.
- Designs for quotation, comparison and conversion journeys.
- Developer-ready design specifications.
- Ongoing collaboration with the Lead Software Engineer during implementation.
- Design review and refinement during development. The exact scope and priorities will be agreed at the beginning of the engagement. How to Apply Please provide:
- Your CV or professional profile.
- A portfolio showing relevant UI/UX work.
- Examples of complex digital products or customer journeys you have designed.
- Details of your experience working directly with developers.
- Your availability for a 2–4 month rolling contract.
- Your proposed monthly contract rate.
- A brief explanation of how you would approach designing a digital insurance comparison and quotation experience for users who may have limited insurance knowledge. We are looking for someone who combines excellent UX thinking, strong visual design, commercial awareness and the independence to take ownership of the digital experience.
