Risk and Compliance Apprenticeship Programme

Our Risk & Compliance team helps Howden Re operate responsibly and with confidence. We help the business understand risks, follow industry regulations and make the right decisions.

As an apprentice, you'll work on real projects and learn how the team plays an important role in protecting our clients, colleagues and our reputation.

What you'll do

• Build your understanding of risk, compliance and the regulations that apply to the insurance and reinsurance industry
• Learn how Howden identifies, records and manages risks that could affect the business
• Support the maintenance of the risk register, which records important risks and the actions being taken to manage them
• Assist with reviewing information to identify potential risks, patterns or areas that may require further investigation
• Support the team in understanding new and changing regulations and what they could mean for the business
• Collaborate with specialist teams such as Financial Crime, Data Protection, Regulatory Affairs and Compliance Monitoring
• Assist the team in responding to a range of compliance queries from the business
• Support the team with business-as-usual activities relating go compliance training, monitoring and reporting

After the apprenticeship

Our apprentices join Howden on permanent contracts from day one. After successfully completing the 18-month programme, you'll transition out of the apprenticeship and continue developing your skills, expertise and career within your chosen area of the business.

Apprenticeship details

• Course: Compliance and risk officer (level 3), Legal, finance and accounting
• Apprenticeship level: Advanced (level 3)
• Training provider: BPP PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION LIMITED
• Expected duration: 1 Year 6 Months
• Hours: 37.5 hours a week. Working week: Monday to Friday

9:00am to 5:30pm

• Start date: 13 September 2027
• Positions available: 1
• Wage: £28,000 a year
