Service Designer

Role: SC Cleared Service Designer Industry: Consulting Start: ASAP Rate: £550 per day Inside IR35 Contract Length: 3+ months (extensions likely and expected) Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Service Designer with active SC Clearance to help design and improve complex end-to-end digital services across public sector and government projects. You will work within multidisciplinary teams to map user journeys, define service architecture, and ensure public services are intuitive, accessible, and compliant with GDS (Government Digital Service) / CDDO standards. Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End Service Mapping: Map user journeys, blueprints, and touchpoints across physical and digital channels.
• GDS Alignment: Ensure service designs meet the Service Standard and accessibility regulations (WCAG 2.1 AA).
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with User Researchers, Interaction Designers, Product Managers, and Technical Architects.
• Problem Solving: Identify pain points, bottlenecks, and opportunities to streamline complex user and organizational processes.
• Stakeholder Management: Facilitate workshops and articulate design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Requirements & Qualifications
• Active SC Clearance: Must hold valid UK Security Clearance (SC).
• Service Design Experience: Proven track record in designing user-centered end-to-end services, ideally within UK Government or Defense sectors.
• GDS Standards: Strong working knowledge of the GDS Service Standard and Service Manual.
• Tooling: Experience using design and prototyping tools (e.g., Miro, Figma, Lucidchart).
• Communication: Exceptional storytelling, workshop facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
