Data Scientist | GenAI & BigQuery ML Manchester - Hybrid ( 2 days a week ) £500 Per Day Inside IR35 Long Term Contract We're looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join a major UK banking client, developing machine learning, NLP and Generative AI solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes. This is a hands-on opportunity combining model development, experimentation and responsible AI, with scope to mentor junior colleagues. What you'll be doing:

• Translate business challenges into clearly defined data science problems and success metrics.
• Build and evaluate classical ML and NLP models, covering feature engineering, training, validation and optimisation.
• Use BigQuery and BigQuery ML to develop scalable modelling workflows.
• Prototype GenAI solutions using LLMs, embeddings, prompting and RAG.
• Produce model cards and governance documentation, working with engineering teams to operationalise solutions. What we're looking for: ✅ 10+ years across Data Science, ML Engineering or related applied AI roles. ✅ Strong Python, SQL and practical BigQuery ML experience. ✅ Hands-on classical ML, NLP and LLM experience. ✅ Strong experiment design, statistical evaluation and model explainability skills. ✅ Confident stakeholder communication and experience supporting model governance.
