Technology Strategy Consultant – Enterprise Architecture & TOM (Group Reconciliations) Job Specification Summary We are seeking an experienced Technology Strategy Consultant or Enterprise / Business Architect to define the future-state vision, Target Operating Model (TOM), and architecture for a group-wide reconciliations transformation. This role demands a consulting-led approach that holistically evaluates the business capabilities, operating model, process workflows, controls, data lineage, and platform landscape. While technology is a core pillar—encompassing AI, intelligent automation, and platform rationalisation—this is not a hands-on engineering or system configuration role. We are explicitly filtering out operational support and platform technical configuration roles (e.g., hands-on TLM, AutoRek, or IntelliMatch rules engineers). The successful candidate will bring structure to a complex, fragmented enterprise environment, establish a clear strategic point of view, and build alignment across C-suite and senior Operations, Technology, Finance, Data, Risk, and Control stakeholders. Role Expectations

• Lead Future-State Vision: Develop a clear, credible, and decision-oriented future-state strategy for group-wide reconciliations across global business divisions.
• Pragmatic Current-State Diagnosis: Evaluate the current landscape sufficiently to isolate key bottlenecks, operational risks, and strategic options without engaging in an exhaustive, low-level process documentation exercise.
• Integrated Capability Design: Define how business capabilities, operating models, governance frameworks, data structures, platforms, and AI/automation should operate cohesively in the target state.
• Strategic Options & Roadmapping: Formulate practical transformation options, business cases, build-versus-buy recommendations, and a phased 30-60-90 day / multi-year execution roadmap.
• Standardisation vs. Local Flexibility: Balance group-wide platform consolidation and control standardisation with legitimate business line, regional, product, and regulatory requirements.
• Executive Advisory & Alignment: Act as a trusted C-suite adviser, constructively challenging existing operational assumptions and facilitating consensus across federated stakeholder groups.
• Deliverable Excellence: Produce executive-ready, decision-oriented deliverables (board decks, capability heatmaps, TOM blueprints, and investment cases) for governance steering committees. Key Responsibilities

1. Consulting Delivery & Engagement Leadership

• Structure and lead complex strategy and enterprise architecture engagements, translating broad or ambiguous mandates into structured workstreams, hypotheses, and actionable decisions.
• Apply evidence-based management consulting frameworks to deliver high-impact outputs for C-suite and executive committees.

2. Strategic Vision & Case for Change

• Define overarching strategic vision, target capability models, and design principles for group-wide reconciliations.
• Build a compelling business case for change covering operational risk reduction, control effectiveness, platform rationalisation, cost efficiency, and colleague experience.

3. Business & Target Operating Model (TOM) Design

• Establish the future target operating model, defining capability ownership, decision rights, governance bodies, and the balance between global group standards and regional/divisional responsibilities.
• Identify structural opportunities to simplify, standardise, and automate core reconciliation workflows, break management, and attestation processes.

4. Technology, Platform & Data Architecture Strategy

• Define the target architecture and integration patterns supporting reconciliations, workflow automation, case management, reporting, and regulatory control evidence.
• Direct platform rationalisation strategy, evaluating legacy estate consolidation, application reuse, build-versus-buy considerations, and alignment with wider enterprise architecture standards.

5. AI, Automation & Control Governance

• Identify high-value, pragmatic use cases for AI and intelligent automation across transaction matching, break classification, exception investigation, root-cause analysis, and break prevention.
• Define requirements for data quality, explainable AI, human-in-the-loop oversight, and GRC controls necessary to deploy AI safely in a regulated banking environment.

6. Stakeholder Facilitation & Team Leadership

• Build trusted advisor relationships across senior leadership in Operations, Technology, Finance, Data, Risk, and Compliance.
• Lead executive workshops, resolve divergent stakeholder viewpoints, and articulate technical and architectural concepts in clear, strategy-led business language.
• Coordinate and mentor small multidisciplinary consulting teams, architects, and domain experts. Required Skills & Experience
• 7+ Years in Strategy & Architecture: Proven track record in management consulting, business architecture, enterprise architecture, technology strategy, or major financial services transformation.
• TOM & Architecture Blueprinting: Demonstrated experience defining future-state architectures, target operating models, capability heatmaps, and enterprise transformation roadmaps.
• Executive Advisory & Facilitation: Outstanding C-suite stakeholder management, workshop facilitation, and executive narrative/deck building capabilities.
• Cross-Domain Advisory Perspective: Ability to bridge business, risk, and technology domains rather than operating solely as a technical execution architect or software engineer.
• Modern Tech & AI Concepts: Solid understanding of modern cloud architectures, data lineage, integration patterns, workflow automation, and AI/GenAI governance frameworks.
• Consulting Delivery: Experience structuring ambiguous problems into clear workstreams, developing business cases, and leading small strategy or architecture teams.
