Cyber Security Architect/Consultant Energy/CNI Location: Generally remote with some occasional travel currently (could change in the future) Security Clearance: Requires SC (or eligibility for SC) You've probably scrolled past 20 cyber jobs this week. Most of them promising "digital transformation", "strategic influence" and "exciting cloud programmes". Which usually means: "We've bought some security tools, nobody's quite sure how they fit together, and we'd like you to sort it out." This isn't that. My client operates in the world of Critical National Infrastructure. The systems and services people only notice when they stop working. They're looking for Security Architects/Consultants who can bridge enterprise IT, cloud, and security without disappearing into endless governance meetings. Not PowerPoint architects. Not framework collectors. People who can design secure environments that actually work. You'll probably enjoy this if you like:

  • Shaping security architecture across complex Microsoft and Azure environments.
  • Influencing cloud security strategy rather than inheriting someone else's mistakes.
  • Working directly with technical teams and senior stakeholders to solve real security problems.
  • Building security into programmes from day one, not bolting it on six months later.
  • Being client-facing You'll probably need:
  • Strong Security Architecture experience across enterprise IT environments.
  • Good knowledge of Azure, Microsoft security technologies, identity, and cloud security principles.
  • Experience balancing risk, security, and business requirements without becoming the department of "no".
  • The confidence to challenge decisions when something doesn't look secure. Bonus points if you've worked in Energy, Utilities, or other CNI environments. The package: £80,000 If you're a Security Architect who's more interested in building secure platforms than writing documents nobody reads, let's talk. Worst case, you'll have a conversation with someone who actually understands the difference between security architecture and drawing boxes in Visio.
