Non Executive Director

Non-Executive Director Commercial Finance | Brokerage & Lending | Growth Strategy Crown Business Finance | Milton Keynes | Part-time | Hybrid Crown Business Finance arranges approximately £200 million in funding each year for UK businesses across asset finance and business loans. We have ambitious plans to grow substantially and become a hybrid broker and lender. We're looking for an experienced Non-Executive Director to work directly with our founders, Jack, Jake and Toby, bringing strategic direction, constructive challenge and practical experience of building a much larger finance business. Who we're looking for You must have successfully run and grown a commercial finance business significantly larger than Crown, as a CEO, Managing Director or equivalent senior leader. We're looking for someone who has already navigated the challenges ahead of us and can turn that experience into clear, actionable advice. You'll need:

• Extensive experience across asset finance, business lending and commercial finance brokerage, ideally including both brokerage and own-book lending.
• A proven record of delivering growth, building leadership teams and developing systems and operations that support scale.
• Experience securing and managing block funding or wholesale lending facilities.
• Strong understanding of lending economics, funding costs, credit and portfolio risk, alongside governance and regulation.
• Experience spanning smaller SME transactions and larger, more complex deals.
• The confidence to challenge entrepreneurial founders constructively. Previous NED experience is welcome, but proven experience running a larger finance business is essential. The role
• Develop a practical short, medium and long-term growth strategy with clear priorities, milestones and accountability.
• Guide our development into lending, including funding strategy, operational capability and risk controls.
• Challenge forecasts, investment decisions, processes and growth assumptions.
• Help strengthen our leadership team, organisational structure and board reporting.
• Assess new products, distribution channels, partnerships and acquisition opportunities. You'll support the founders and help them execute a credible plan for sustainable growth, profitability and long-term business value. The opportunity A part-time, hybrid appointment with regular meetings in Milton Keynes and availability for strategic discussions between meetings. Time commitment and remuneration will reflect the agreed scope; existing appointments and potential conflicts will be discussed during selection.
