Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in Leicestershire for an Insurance and Claims Officer to join the team on a temporary basis. The postholder will manage a varied caseload of insurance claims, investigate disputed cases and potential fraud, and help protect the organisation against unjustified claims and financial losses. Key Responsibilities

• Manage and investigate a caseload of insurance claims, reviewing evidence, assessing liability and identifying potential fraudulent activity.
• Liaise with claimants, solicitors, insurers and internal departments to gather information, negotiate settlements and resolve disputed claims.
• Prepare and recommend cases for legal challenge where appropriate, instruct loss adjusters and arrange site visits to establish the circumstances surrounding incidents.
• Maintain accurate claims records, prepare reports in line with data protection requirements, and identify opportunities to improve risk management processes and reduce future incidents. Candidate Criteria
• Experience handling insurance claims within a local authority or insurance company with a sound understanding of common law negligence, liability and risk management.
• Experience handling motor claims insurance, with public liability claims being beneficial.
• Strong IT, analytical and communication skills, with the ability to assess evidence, calculate claims costs and produce clear, professional correspondence and reports.
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to handle sensitive or contentious situations tactfully and professionally when dealing with claimants, legal representatives and internal stakeholders.
