Payroll Manager
MiddlemoreInterim Payroll & Reward Manager (12 months) London | Hybrid (2 London days) Up to £56,000 (would also consider a 4 day week) I'm recruiting for an experienced Payroll & Reward Manager to join a well-established, people-focused organisation in London. This is a broad and highly visible role sitting within HR Operations, taking ownership of payroll, reward, benefits and associated HR data and reporting. It would suit someone who combines strong technical payroll and reward knowledge with an analytical mindset and enjoys improving processes, systems and the employee experience. You'll oversee an outsourced monthly payroll, acting as the key point of contact for the payroll provider and ensuring accurate, timely and compliant delivery. Alongside payroll, you'll manage the annual pay and bonus cycle, pensions and employee benefits, and provide meaningful analysis and reporting to HR, Finance, senior leadership and Board-level stakeholders. A key part of the role will be getting the most from Workday, particularly its pay, benefits and time-tracking functionality. You'll act as the SME for these areas, improving data integrity, developing processes and identifying opportunities for greater automation and self-service. Key areas of responsibility include:
- Managing and overseeing the outsourced payroll provider
- Annual salary and bonus review processes
- Pension, healthcare and wider employee benefits administration
- Payroll accounting, year-end activity and regulatory reporting
- Gender Pay and Ethnicity Pay reporting
- Headcount, absence, turnover and overtime analysis
- Managing relationships and SLAs with external suppliers
- Supporting benefit tenders and implementing new benefits
- Improving and automating payroll and reward processes
- Acting as the Workday SME for pay, benefits and time tracking We're looking for someone with strong experience across payroll and total reward, including managing outsourced payroll and third-party suppliers. You'll be highly numerate and analytical, comfortable working with complex data in Excel, and able to translate that data into useful insights for a range of stakeholders. Experience using Workday would be particularly valuable, as would a CIPP or relevant HR qualification, although these are not essential. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants genuine ownership of the payroll and reward agenda while still being part of a collaborative wider HR function. Interested? Apply directly or message me confidentially for further information.
